All Roads Lead To Where I’m Going.

All Roads Lead To Where I’m Going.

It’s wonderful to continue to explore and evolve. And I hope I continue to evolve. This podcast still expresses what it means to pro-age. To age positively as much as we possibly can. I’ve been writing prose, poetry and short stories professionally since the age of 14. They seem to express what I’m observing, what I’m feeling, what I’m experiencing the best. I’m fortunate for my work to get more traction lately. Doesn’t everyone want that. Want the opportunity for how they express themselves to be heard. I ‘m incredibly grateful. I certainly don’t do it alone. I have a loving family and friends. And I have supportive organizations, publications and websites that are willing to publish what I write. I’m going for it and you must go for it, too. Because, as I said, all roads lead to where we’re going.

Don’t Believe Everything You Hear About Supplements, Herbs, and Medicines.

Don’t Believe Everything You Hear About Supplements, Herbs, and Medicines.

I love information. Maybe I am a purveyor of information. But I don’t just blindly believe anything and everything people tell me. Even “experts”. I do my research and what works for me, works for me. It may not work for you. You need to find that out for yourself. Don’t trust what everyone tells you. That can be trouble. Not everything is what you are told it is. Do your due diligence. Research. Ask questions. If it sounds too good to be true, yes, it is. Labels that say “natural“, “approved“ or “pure“ don’t mean a thing. Nothing is going to cure what ails you “in record time“, “before you know it“, or “Faster than anything on the market“. When you see those labels – RUN!

I’m NOT a Fan of Social Media. Here are the Reasons.

I’m NOT a Fan of Social Media. Here are the Reasons.

I’m sure for some people that social media has its place. Personally, I think social media like Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter have a monopoly. And they’re watching you. An article just came out about Facebook and Instagram monitoring you even when you’re not on the platform. That’s scary to me. We are moving farther and farther away from face-to-face encounters. Or at the very least a call, a text, or a video chat. We’ve replaced social media for any meaningful interactions. I get it if you’re a shut in, ill, not very mobile or don’t really know many people. I’ve met a couple of lovely people on social media and we’ve become friends. But out of the thousands and thousands others I encountered when I was on social media, nothing of real substance. Or people who were or had been real friends became only social media friends. They were too busy to communicate in any other way. And the communication was often just a thumbs up, like, quick, short comment, or a happy birthday after they had been reminded by the app. It feels just too insidious for me. We are being watched all the time in so many ways. Through our big screen TV or Alexa or even our cell phone. There’s very little privacy and there’s very little one-on-one interactions. It’s incredibly addictive and people have told me again and again they just can’t live without it. No, you can’t live without air, food, or shelter. You can live without social media. At the very least you can live without being on social media hours and hours every day announcing every single facet of life. I’m a big fan of Cal Newport, who has never been on social media. You can find him online – his website, blog and his TEDTalks. He’s brilliant, well-adjusted and has no problem in his relationships, work or avocations. Hey, if Stephen King has decided that Facebook is not for him it’s time to sit up and take notice.

10 BLUNT (But Important) Pro-Aging Life Tips.

10 BLUNT (But Important) Pro-Aging Life Tips.

KaZ examines logical and illogical ways we live our lives as we age. From keeping the gas tank in our cars half full , and our cell phones charged, to letting go of eating crap, hoarding stuff, living our lives through our children and not getting enough sleep. It’s blunt, to the point, and oh so right on target.

    Happiness is Not the Goal.

    Happiness is Not the Goal.

Is happiness “just an illusion”? Let’s look at “Don’t worry, be content” instead of “don’t worry be happy”. Happiness is a constart swinging pendulum. Contentment may be what we need to address. Pretending to be happy isn’t happiness. Pretending to be perfect is anything but. Release the pressure you put on yourself or on others to be perfect. Contentment and peace are less manic. Does happiness exist or is it really contentment we all desperately need? Too much is too much or anything, even “happiness”.

    Think For Yourself.

    Think For Yourself.

Because of what has been going on in politics for a while it’s very important to be a critical, independent thinker. To think for yourself. To form your own ideals, ideas and opinions. Arguments because people don’t agree on politics are futile and a waste of time. I don’t believe everything I hear or read from anywhere. Neither should you. Hearsay, rumors, gossip, propaganda are all just that. None of it is based in fact. Zero. You have to look at the empirical evidence. Being a critical, independent thinker is healthy. It helps us age better and release less cortisol: that fight or flight hormone. There’s a lot of that swirling around these days. Cortisol makes radical changes in our bodies. Those radical changes aren’t always good. It’s good when we’re trying to escape an oncoming car or a bear in the woods. But in the long run on a day-to-day or hour by hour basis it’s not Pro – aging. We all have our biases. Formed from years of interactions, experiences and, well, life. Information and facts are power! Unless a situation is so egregious is there really a need to engage? Is defending our “opinion“ worth the arguments, attacks, and verbal or physical violence? I don’t think so. Scratch that, I know it’s not. I believe. In agree to disagree, dialogue, plus not everyone has to see eye-to-eye. That’s what makes life so interesting. But how we handle that is an entirely different matter.
