    1. How so many of us run away from suffering nowadays in the hope of finding bliss in comfort
    2. Why finding your worthy struggle in life and focusing on this is key

MATT O'CONNOR - Men in the Dock: The Fathers for Justice Story

MATT O'CONNOR - Men in the Dock: The Fathers for Justice Story

I am joined today by political activist, campaigner, author and marketing consultant Matt O’Connor.
Think back to 2001 in the UK and you will remember Dads dressed up as Superhero’s scaling public buildings and taking direct action over how fathers were treated in the Family Courts. That organisation was called Fathers for Justice and it’s founder was today's guest Matt O’Connor. Never before had the UK seen such direct action since the Suffragette movement a century earlier.
Fast Forward almost two decades and whilst there have been some improvements to the rights of Fathers and Men in the English Legal System, there is still much work to do and Matt continues to be at the forefront of this fight. I find out from Matt what has changed, what hasn’t, the injustices and discrimination he still sees taking place, and why there is a double standard when it comes to men and women in the eyes of the Law. We also discuss the catastrophic impact family breakdown has on society as a whole.

ED TRONICK AND CLAUDIA M.GOLD - The Power of Discord

ED TRONICK AND CLAUDIA M.GOLD - The Power of Discord

Today I am joined by Ed Tronick PhD and Claudia M. Gold MD who are Authors of a new Book - The Power of Discord. Ed is a developmental neuroscientist and clinical psychologist, Claudia is a practitioner in general and behavioural paediatrics, and author of a number of books on the subject.
Discord and disagreement is a fundamental part of the human experience and non more so than at this time in history - no one likes to be in conflict with another person or group but my discussion with today's guest sheds some interesting light on the beneficial nature of discord.
I delve into the famous still face experiment with Ed and Claudia and find out how 'mismatch and repair' are fundamental to our development, experience and the meaning we attach to the world around us. Far be it from being a bad thing, discord conducted in the right way can be a powerful way to unify us as human beings.

DR ROBERT GLOVER - No More Mr Nice Guy

DR ROBERT GLOVER - No More Mr Nice Guy

I am joined today by psychotherapist, family therapist, Author, blogger and podcaster Dr. Robert Glover.

Do you remember that kid at school who all the girls loved but was always firmly in the friend zone? Many guys just like this have grown up into men who despite doing everything right in their relationships to please their spouses, get very little in return.

Dr Glover's pioneering book No More Mr Nice Guy continues to increase in sales year on year despite being nearly two decades old which speaks volumes about this phenomenon. I find out from him the inspiration behind it, why so many Men and Dads are still caught in the nice guy trap and why overcoming it with the help of a band of brothers is imperative.
