How excited are we to introduce you to this Legend from the North! She is epic and of course we needed an epic voice to narrate the story, so tune in to hear the dulcet tones of Nyaguthii who so graciously agreed to tell this tale.
I urge you all to uncover more about this legend as we wind up the AfriWetu celebration of women this International Women's month! She was a queen, a warrior, a mother and force - Dihya Al Kahina was a legend who inspires many women across not just North Africa but the rest of the continent.
As usual I want to thank Lee Kanyottu for doing his magic and making us both sound so good!

It's year FIVE of Afriwetu and so of course we have to kick start with a truly ace Kingdom just for you - the BUGANDA kingdom! It is Part 1 because this kingdom needs the space!
So excited to share these ancestors with you, this is such an exciting kingdom as not only was it a powerhouse it is also still in existence and there are LOADS of sources from the Baganda themselves which is always the best as its the most authentic.

Would you believe it is...the wrap up episode, the final one for S4!
It has been a JOURNEY! But as usual I have loved every minute, from the research, to hearing the final product after the magic touch (a heck of a lot of work) from Big City Studio productions and to see how my amazing lady of the socials gets the buzz on the inter webs!

Thanks Nyambura for your incredible effort to put Africa herstory, history and military prowess on the map. Love the reference to other world events shedding light to this motherland under the Sun )completely transected equally by all the parallel latitudes killing the myth of “dark continent”.
Absolutely stunning
I am a mother of African teenagers who realized with horror that they new more about Western history than they did about their own heritage, narrative and their rich history. I realized that their young minds where whitewashed by the popular story of Africa as told on news channels - a poor, disease riddled place rather than the wealthiest place on earth, straining to find its way after 100 years of economic, cultural and social raid. So I am on a mission to rest their minds , and I applaud your work because it brings back the stories of our forefathers in a way that’s easily spread . Your podcast is our evening staple. May you see plenty of success!
Love it but I need longer stories 🙃
History has always fascinated me, but I am learning a lot more than I imagined! From the soundtrack to the excellent story telling voice, but you can’t help but be pulled into this amazing journey through time. I need these stories to be longer.... maybe 31 min 😁😁😁
