Their is nothing pretty in pink! I felt like I was jumped into a gang who colors happen to be "PINK". I don't consider myself a survivor because managing the ebbs and flows after a breast cancer diagnosis is never ending. I'm now standing in my GLOW willing to share my moments. My moments are real and my truth is sometimes funny. The Glow doesn't define me. I define the Glow.

    Puzzle Pieces

    Puzzle Pieces

Join me for a lively, funny and heartfelt conversation with Dr. Anita Groves McAllister, PharmD.

Dr. Groves McAllister practiced traditional pharmacy for 13 years and has been a Healthcare consultant for the past 21 years. Her background is in pharmacy oncology with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer. Ironically her thesis was on doxorubicin better known as the “red devil”. She is well versed in the pharmaceutical world but realized that lots of life puzzle pieces didn’t fit the same after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Dr. Groves McAllister talks about the love of her life being diagnosed with lung cancer, caregiving, support system and how she managed to pick up the pieces along the way.

Thank you, Anita, for the opportunity to listen, learn and laugh with you. You are the best and this is one of my favorite podcasts yet.

    No Pictures Please

After 67 years of perfect health Tina was diagnosed in November 2020 with AML(acute myeloid leukemia) a very serious form of leukemia, one that can arise from undiagnosed myleodysplastic syndrome. You may be familiar with that term from Robin Robert’s documented journey back in 2013.  Tina’s diagnosis came in her 34th year of sobriety and less than 6 months after her fiancé’s suicide.  She is now 200+ days out from a bone marrow transplant which is considered a possible curative fix for this type of AML for some patients.  Although Tina has characterized this journey as the most spiritual and transcendent experience of her life, she is now in that further uncharted land of survivorship where gratitude and rebirth live in an uneasy partnership with frustration, fear, and loneliness.

Mikeylito ,

Plesantly surprised, considering the topic

To be honest, I approached this podcast with dread because cancer and chemotherapy are not topics one considers willingly. To my surprise, however, host Regina Jones makes the topic compelling because she's not dwelling on cancer and chemo but rather relating it to her life and how it affected her and the people around her.

For anyone who has lived life, you'll find the things Regina discusses don't necessarily result because of cancer but rather because of living. Many of the things discussed you'll relate to because her discussions are life-affirming.

Rather than approaching the podcast with dread, give it a listen. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and enthralled, just as I was. Regina Jones is a natural interviewer. Tune in.
