Great! Especially the Politics of the Historians

This is a great podcast that explores Lincoln from the view of present day historians. It is interesting to hear the thoughts of the authors of books I have, am, or will read.

In one podcast Alan Guelzo indicated he tried to keep his personal opinions out of his writings and musing. Not so the rest of the bunch! While talking about Lincoln they all (so far) have been able to take a poke at and criticize the 45th President.

Otherwise a must listen!

A Must Listen For The Intellectually Curious

The Lincoln Log is an excellent show with terrific guests.

I like the host, but I wish he would push the conversation from time to time. For example, Allen Guelzo was discussing statues and the ongoing controversies surrounding whether or not to take them down. An obvious follow up question could have been “should we remove statues that were seemingly put up in support of Jim Crow or as a middle finger to the Civil Rights movement?” I’d have like to have heard Prof. Guelzo’s response. But then I’m always wishing an interviewer would have asked this or that. I do appreciate how the host often makes the conversation topical.

Overall The Lincoln Log scores an A+! Thank you for such a great show. It’s a much needed positive addition to our public discourse. Here’s hoping the Lincoln Log is around for many years.
