To kick off the 2023–2024 speaker season, the Canadian Club of Calgary is proud to share Darrel Janz, news broadcaster and "Heart of Calgary" awardee. He is sharing his 60 years in journalism, from coverage of the trouble days of the October Crisis, covering the 1988 Olympic Games in our city and touching anecdotes on travelling to Bosnia and Croatia in the 1990s.

LCol Phillips was 24 when she went to Afghanistan in 2007 where she became the first female Artillery Troop Commander in Kandahar as part of Task Force 1-07 of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Labelling his speech "Act Like an Owner: A Citizen's Guide to the Struggle for Our Future," noted public speaker and author Ruben Nelson illustrated how we as Albertans have the ability to act as owners and shareholders of Alberta’s resource wealth. His valuable experience as a futurist through decades of research will surely offer a vast amount of insight into the question: “Where do we go from here?” regarding the future of Alberta.
