Welcome to our new Professional Muslim Women Profile Series whereby we'll be having conversations with a number of Muslim women who are doing amazing things.

We commence by talking to Jia Jamali of JiaJamFit.

Jia Jamali is a mother of two, a fitness and wellness influencer, a certified personal trainer, and a group fitness instructor.

She used to teach Grade 6 Language and Health & Physical Education to Grades 1 to 8. She currently facilitates 6 group classes per week for the Muslim women in our communities, including yoga, bootcamp and dance fitness across the GTA.

Apart from this, she is also pursuing a masters degree in counselling psychology and aims to specialize in marriage counselling and helping youth with drug, alcohol and addiction related issues.

Jia is passionate about health and wellness and has a desire to help women and children become the best versions of themselves in all aspects: mentally, physically & spiritually.

Third in our Sisters' Bookclub series, we explored Chapters 5 Holistic Justice and 6 Pragmatic Decisiveness.

Both areas are extremely topical within the current socio-political climate. The first of the two chapters explores justice in regards to race, gender, religion and conflict resolution. The second talks about the importance of making a decision based on an overall view of any given circumstance, including your team as part of a consultation process and the act of making the decision (a decision is better than no decision).

Fortnightly Sisters Bookclub podcast series hosted by Pass the Mic Sis for Muslim sisters, which takes place on Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm (GMT).

This time we explored Chapters 3 Vision and 4 Courage of  'Muhammad (saw): 11 Leadership Qualities that Changed the  World' by Nabeel Al-Azami. The more you read this book it becomes second nature to spot these qualities in people around you and appreciate areas where you need to develop.

Second in our Bookclub series we're still exploring ways to improve the quality of the sound recordings. The conversations take place over Skype and are recorded on the host's laptop. Please excuse the speaker vibrations that we've been unable to edit out of our guests' voices. We've identified what the issue is and will address it in the next podcast. We thank you for your patience and understanding!

It is an inspiring book with lots of learning points. Once you read a few chapters, you start spotting these qualities in people around you and/or wonder why certain people do not have these!
