In this episode, we are joined with a special guest from Melanated & Educated Podcast to talk about what is this so-called topic of "white privilege", how it came about and is still portrayed in our society today. We also discuss proximity to whiteness like being lightskin or mixed and how it comes with advantages compared to being dark skin in the black community. Also, we talk about celebrities like Zendaya "representing" the whole black community in mainstream media& being the black beauty standard and how colorism comes into play where we see a lack of darkskin representation in books, tv shows, movies, etc. Futhermore, we cover what it's like to be a black woman and the pressure and racism we face + our opinions on the recent Oscar's regarding Will Smith/Chris Rock, black women and hair, and even toxic masculinity. In addition, we talk about period shaming that happens in schools/the workplace and the need for period products in all places for ppl, statistics regarding periods, period poverty, what 'tampon tax' is and why it's bad. Also, different types of period stereotypes (discrimination) and stigmas and how it manifests in our society. Furthermore, how menstruation relates to human rights and even answering some frequently asked questions teens have about periods and their bodies. Overall, the message of this week's eps is to stop feeling insure about your bodily fluids aka. perioddddssssssssss.❤️ and why it's important to not let society rule your body and how you think abt it.
