Listen Again: 9. How We Realized We Were in An Unhealthy Organization, Part 2

This episode is part 2 of the conversation that Amy Fritz and Melissa Hogan started in the previous episode. Amy shares more of what she was seeing in Ramsey Solutions that felt very similar to news of scandal with other Christian ministries and leaders. In this conversation Melissa and Amy talk about over two dozen resources they found helpful in recognizing and processing abusive and/or unhealthy organizations, understanding the hurdles whistle-blowers have to telling the truth, and the voices that gave them courage to speak up.

Listen Again: 8. How We Realized We Were In An Unhealthy Organization.

Amy Fritz is joined by Melissa J. Hogan for a conversation about how they realized they were connected to an unhealthy organization.
Amy and Melissa met when Melissa's husband at the time, and Nathan, Amy's husband, were working at Ramsey Solutions. In this episode they talk about how the events happening in the Evangelical world in 2018 and 2019, along with different strategic resources, helped to open their eyes to red flags in the organization.

113: Self Awareness Isn't Enough. Guest: Chuck DeGroat

113: Self Awareness Isn't Enough. Guest: Chuck DeGroat

Chuck DeGroat returns to the Untangled Faith podcast with host Amy Fritz to explore the transformative work of moving from self-awareness to self-regulation and how our response to shame changes everything.
“I call the work that I do sometimes excavation work, because we're removing rubble. . .There's a lot of rubble that has kept me inwardly oriented and not as merciful or more prone to bitterness than prone to justice as I do my own work. And as I identify these parts of me that are self-protective, and befriend them and bless them and offer peace to them, there is a sense in which we all can live from that deep heart God created us for in love, goodness, faith, gentleness, meekness. . .And so I often say in the work that I do, the greatest asset is that I'm working with image bearers.” - Chuck DeGroat

    In this episode we:
    - Address the repercussions of the Calvin University president's resignation and its ripple effect on community leaders.
    - Discuss the need for self-awareness in understanding one's actions as incomplete without self-regulation
    - Discuss the delicate balance between speaking out on issues and exercising prudence in engagement.
    - Unpack the concept of shame, its link to narcissism, and the importance of having strategies to work through it.
    - Share personal stories that highlight our relationship with shame in relationship dynamics.

Deirdre Tshien ,

Great podcast!

Amy has created a much-needed space for those who have experienced disillusionment or discouragement in their Christian faith journey and makes the listening experience feel very safe. If you need it, this podcast will help you reclaim a faith that is grounded in goodness and truth. Deirdre

Biblically focused ,

Emotionally driven and one sided

Grieved to see this one sided podcast touted as a Christian podcast. Reminds me of Proverbs 18:17 “The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.”

Additionally, the maximized look at emotions rather than any reminder of the truth of the gospel is a real miss here. Listen if you want to hear people drone on about their perceived hurts rather than any encouragement towards Scriptural truth.

Amy is a true friend & wonderful host

I was a guest on this podcast and the reason I wanted to be was because of months of hearing her voice and coming to trust her. I can say that “meeting” her through recording (then real meeting a few months later), who she is on these episodes is who she is in person: warm, patient, gracious, wise, trustworthy, full of integrity, and empathetic. Love this podcast because of her.
