The Book: The 9 Money Rules Millionaires Use

The 9 Money Rules Millionaires Use is fabulous, enlightened reading, filled with gripping personal stories – my favorite way to learn – written by someone who has walked the talk and who wants to help others do the same. I could not more highly recommend reading this one as soon as possible.

The Book: Text Messages To My Sons - At the start of 2020, I began to immerse myself in a learning journey incorporating good health, spiritual and emotional intelligence, and personal growth. I needed to share this with my three sons, who are everything to me.
One motivating factor was the wild statistic that in 2017, people were on their phones 70% of the time, and by 2021, it was continuous.
While my kids were growing up, I texted my sons mostly with nagging reminders, questions, commands, and sometimes, even reprimands. They would text me what they needed or wanted me to do for them. That was our communication.  I do not consider phones and devices evil; what you do with them makes the difference.
So, at the beginning of 2021, I started text messaging each of my sons daily with messages of love, inspiration, observation, and gratitude. I shared what I was learning, including advice and quotes from renowned mentors, creators, and thinkers. What was fantastic was that my sons read the texts and responded with love and acknowledgment back to me.
As I shared with friends what I was doing with my sons, their response was remarkably consistent: “THIS IS AMAZING, YOU HAVE TO PUT THIS IN A BOOK, WHAT A GIFT!” And so, I did ! “Text Messages to My Sons” is available on Amazon. It’s there as a gentle guide to expand the depth of your loving relationships with family and friends.

The Last Bird of Paradise by Clifford Garstang
Two women, nearly a century apart, seek to rebuild their lives when they reluctantly leave their homelands. Arriving in Singapore, they find romance in a tropical paradise, but also find they haven’t left behind the dangers that caused them to flee.
In the aftermath of 9/11 and haunted by the specter of terrorism, Aislinn Givens leaves her New York law practice and joins her husband in Southeast Asia when he takes a job there. Seeking to establish herself in a local law firm, Aislinn begins to understand the historic resentment of foreigners who have exploited the region for centuries. Learning about the turmoil of Singapore’s colonial period, she acquires several paintings by an English artist during World War I that she believes are a warning to her. The artist, Elizabeth Pennington, tells her own tumultuous story through diary entries that come to an end when the war reaches the colony with catastrophic results. In the present, Aislinn and her husband learn tragically that terrorism takes many shapes when they are ensnared by local political upheaval and corruption.
In a lyrical blend of historical and contemporary drama, The Last Bird of Paradise explores the consequences of power imbalances—both domestic and geopolitical—against a lush, tropical backdrop. Clifford Garstang, author of the award-winning novel Oliver’s Travels, once again draws on his decades of experience in Asia to tell an unforgettable story of romantic intrigue.

E349 - Kerry Kriseman - Accidental First Lady - On the Front Lines (and Behind the Scenes) of Local Politics

E349 - Kerry Kriseman - Accidental First Lady - On the Front Lines (and Behind the Scenes) of Local Politics

Episode 349 - Kerry Kriseman - Accidental First Lady - On the Front Lines (and Behind the Scenes) of Local Politics

Hello, and thank you for visiting. I’m a St. Petersburg native, and a graduate of University of South Florida (Go Bulls!) with a B.A. in Mass Communications/Broadcasting. I’m also a former political spouse.
After years of being asked, “How do you do this?” I decided to tell my story of political spouse life with Accidental First Lady: On the Front Lines (and Behind the Scenes) of Local Politics.
Since publishing my book, I’ve had the honor of helping others start their author journeys. I’ve taught memoir writing with Keep St. Pete Lit, and next year, I’ll teach a 4-part memoir class at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Eckerd College.
To reach aspiring writers everywhere, I’m designing an online class: Memoir Magic: Crafting, Publishing, and Promoting Your Life Story. I’d love to add you to my Founders Group of students.

    About the author
Kerry Kriseman is a St. Petersburg native. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Mass Communications/Broadcasting.
Kerry worked in print media for the St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times) in various positions in the Newsroom and Marketing Department from 1988 to 1998. She has been the Public Relations Manager for Creative Clay, a St. Petersburg, Fla., non-profit since 2008.
Kerry is the author of Accidental First Lady: On the Front Lines and Behind the Scenes of Local Politics, published by St. Petersburg Press. The memoir recounts her 22 years as a political spouse to her lawyer-turned-politician husband, Rick Kriseman, St. Petersburg Mayor from 2014-2022. Political life afforded Kerry remarkable travel experiences, such as travel to Morocco, Scotland, and Qatar. However, she also finds her hometown of St. Pete engaging, with its world-class museums, local arts districts, diversity, and vibrant neighborhoods.
Equally as enjoyable as travel are Kerry’s passions: dogs (her own Labradors and the guide dog puppies they raise), volunteering in several capacities, enjoying wine, trying new recipes, and challenging her baking skills with her new Kitchen Aid stand mixer.
