Lessons from a Daily Podcast Challenge: How I Made It to the End

Lessons from a Daily Podcast Challenge: How I Made It to the End

Today's podcast marks the end of term and the end of this podcast season. I take you through the journey of my challenge to create a daily weekday podcast through the school term, and reveal if I've successfully crossed the finish line.

In this episode, I reflect on the challenge I set for myself at the start of the term: to create a daily podcast every weekday throughout the school term. As I wrap up this season, I can't help but beam with pride over some of the wins.

From being ranked among the top 5% of podcasts globally to reaching number 3 in the top 25 Strategy podcasts in Australia, there are many victories to celebrate!

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing. There were definitely days when I had to push myself to think harder, to find new content ideas, and to keep going even when the end seemed far away.

But, having an end date in sight was super helpful. It gave me something to work towards and helped me prove to myself that I could stick to a commitment. And yes, I did make it to the end!

Looking ahead, I'm excited about the opportunity to bring more voices into the mix by inviting guests and sharing more of their knowledge with you. I also plan to increase the repurposing of my podcast and potentially change the frequency of episodes.

    Key Takeaways:

🔑 Having a clear goal and an end date in sight can be incredibly motivating.
🔑 Even when things get challenging, pushing through can lead to surprising wins.
🔑 Looking ahead, I plan to bring more voices into the mix by inviting guests onto the podcast.
🔑 Repurposing content can be a great way to reach a wider audience.

Thanks for joining me on this journey; I can't wait to see what the next season brings.

I'd love to hear your feedback on what you'd like to hear more of in future episodes.

     Tune in next time!

Podcasting 101: How to Align Your Passion with Your Audience

Podcasting 101: How to Align Your Passion with Your Audience

Hello, lovely listeners! It's your podcast host, Olivia De Sousa, here.
In this episode, I delve into a topic that has been on many of your minds - starting a podcast and coming up with consistent, engaging content. Let's be honest, we've all been there, staring at the blank screen, waiting for the flood of content ideas to come in. But here's the thing, it doesn't have to be that hard.
The first step is understanding your audience. Think about who you're trying to reach, what problems they have, and how you can solve them. This might sound like marketing 101, but it's actually about understanding yourself too. Are you a passionate parent coach? A medical expert? A homeschooling guru? Your passion and expertise will guide you to your audience and the content you need to create.
Next, you need to listen to your audience. What questions are they asking? What problems are they facing? Your daily interactions with your audience can provide a wealth of content ideas. So, take a moment to reflect on your interactions and see what content ideas emerge.
🎧 In this episode, I chat about:
Understanding your audience and aligning it with your passion and expertise 🎯The importance of reflecting on your daily interactions for content ideas 💡Not being afraid to share your knowledge and expertise 🧠Keeping an eye on industry trends and differentiating yourself from the competition 🏆Injecting your personality into your content and building a relationship with your listeners 👥Don't forget, every piece of content you create is a building block in your relationship with your listeners. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be you.
Got any questions or want to suggest a topic for a future episode? Just drop me a line. Until next time, keep on creating! 🚀

Show Up and Suck Before You Show Up and Shine

Show Up and Suck Before You Show Up and Shine

Are you ready to step up, even if it means making mistakes? Welcome to this episode where we dive into the crucial concept of 'showing up and sucking before you show up and shine'.

In this candid chat, we delve into not just the importance of showing up, but embracing the initial discomfort of not being perfect. We discuss how the fear of 'sucking' often holds us back from starting new things, from podcasting to singing. But here's the thing: everyone starts somewhere, and yes, that often means starting from a place of imperfection. It's through making mistakes, learning, and persisting that we eventually shine.

I also share some personal experiences from my singing career, including an unexpected live performance in Portugal, to illustrate how things can go wrong. But also, more importantly, how these 'wrong' turns can lead to exciting, unplanned outcomes. So, ready to embrace the suck and welcome the shine? Let's dive in!

🎤🎧 Here's what we're chatting about in this episode:
The importance of being willing to 'show up and suck' before you shine.Personal anecdotes from my singing career where things went wrong... but turned out great! Why making mistakes and experiencing failures are crucial parts of the learning process. The role of ego and dropping the pressure of perfection. The philosophy of practicing for 10,000 hours to achieve mastery. Why it's okay to not be perfect and why 'nobody cares'.An encouraging reminder that people care about how you can help them, not whether you're perfect.
Remember to join me in the next episode, where we’ll continue to explore the journey of showing up, making mistakes, and shining brighter. Bye for now!
