I’m Tristan, a man usually paid to be mean. I became an actor because it was a safe way to express vulnerability behind the smokescreen of a character. The more I embraced it on-screen, the more I began to do the same in real life, allowing me to finally connect to people in a deeper way.

Community is the most important thing to me because of how easy it is for me to neglect it. This podcast is a way for me to break that pattern and become more invested in the wisdom and value of others instead of my own busy mind.

Faheem Rashid | First Generation Latchkey Childhood and Kinesiology

Faheem Rashid | First Generation Latchkey Childhood and Kinesiology

Physical therapist turned actor, Faheem Rashid, is a genius with an almost superhuman ability to retain information, certainly living up to his name which means "the righteously guided teacher".

We talk about the expectations he faced as the son of immigrants and a latchkey childhood that meant his babysitter was often his imagination and the television. He gets very vulnerable about his lifelong struggle with his relationship to food, which often got him kicked out of all-you-can-eat buffets, and the way his physicality became the main aspect of his identity.

She also talks about the perfectionism instilled in her from a young age by her "traditional Asian tiger mom", which she has now come to appreciate as her mom's way of showing love.
