"How Very" - The Unlikely Persistence of 'Heathers'

This week, Emilio, Julian, and Madeline break out the croquet mallets and slushies for a discussion of 'Heathers', the 1989 high school dark comedy starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. This is as formative a movie as there can be for Emilio, who can't help but speak with admiration for this cult classic. They dig into the film's satirical approach to the subject matter, its prescience about a future with rampant school violence, the star-making turns for the film's lead act...

AWESOME…Magnetic, fun and enlightening discussion

I have had my hair blown back listening to these 3 brainiac musicians conspire in discussion about movies. With varying thoughtful interpretations of each movie, their conversation has left me changed and excited about movies in a way I haven’t experienced. I don’t even have to have SEEN the movie to feel like I gained perspective. As a bonus, I also feel like I spent my time with some great humans. Sleepless Cinematic is a great listen.

Great show about great shows!

Emilio, Madeline, and Joshua clearly love movies and listening to them have fun while analyzing films is like hanging with old friends. Their selection of films range from popcorn blockbusters to artistic lodestars, and their reactions are educated by a clear deep-research of the history of cinema. It’s also wonderful to hear disagreements between their own respective tastes, discussed without judgement of one another on their likes/dislikes. Lastly, it’s fun hearing trained musicians give their takes on film, as a clear love for the craft crosses over regardless of the audio vs a/v medium.

A hearty cozy cinematic pajama party

Definitely the sort of easy going, tasteful film forum/discussion that is exuding an earnest enthusiasm. A great watch along podcast and one that I can listen to while playing the Movie Studio Tycoon or Stardew Valley. All 3 hosts are charming. I am curious about musicians who are also cinephiles. If you need something to pick up your commute, close out the graveyard shift, or anyone who likes well researched, highly measured movie chat you gotta give this show a try. Will be the next big name in movie podcasting!! 🪁🥊🎯🍿🥤☕️🌚
