Professor Tom Lewis is a professor of English at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York, and the author of a number of books, including the subject of this masterclass, Divided Highways: The Interstate Highway System and the Transformation of American Life, which was made into an award-winning documentary.
This book captivated me; it's a fascinating, socio-historical look at the US interstate highway system, which Professor Lewis refers to as, arguably, America's biggest franchise. I thank Professor Lewis, whose book is one of my all-time favourites (among many US history books!) for taking the time to talk with me.
If you've ever driven on an interstate in the US, or have an interest in transport, history or politics, Professor Lewis' stories will resonate.

Peter Miller is a self-confessed cricket geek who has built a following on Twitter as 'The Cricket Geek'.
On the basis of his cricketing nous and engagement on Twitter, Peter is now increasing his portfolio of cricket writing to include EPSNcricinfo and commentating with Test Match Sofa, as well as podcasting with wunderkind, Freddie Wilde.
We chat Twitter, cricket, trolls, life in Wales and his recent blog post about battling depression.

Brenden Wood and James Manning present one of my favourite podcasts, Mediaweek Australia - so I was keen to invite Brenden, who I'd connected with on Twitter, on A Coffee With. Brenden also works on MMM Sydney and has an extensive radio career that covers many markets and started out with Brenden doing work experience at high school at his local radio station.
Our chat is about a shared love - radio - and podcasting. What I'd framed for a half hour chat went for over an hour (thanks for your patience Brenden!) and we discuss a range of people and topics including two standout Mediaweek podcasts - Craig McLachlan and Bevan Lee; as well as 2UE and what Brenden would do with the station. We also chatted about Brenden's use of social media, radio in Sydney and Melbourne, a newsagency blog, NRL 101 from a referee for this Victorian, and a natter on Ten's new Wake Up show.
There was also phone call from league legend Mark Geyer, and we conclude with the Skype link going offline as Brenden walks outside with his laptop and phone to show us the Sydney sky with the fires (the ep was recorded on Thursday 17 October).
This is a rollicking chat and one I really enjoyed.

Dylan Soo is a great friend of mine who I met a few years ago as we travelled on our respective holidays traversing Canada by train (all 5,800 kilometres from Vancouver in the west to Halifax in the east!).

These days he's based in Whitehorse, Yukon where he manages a number of hotels.
Dylan reflects on life being onsite for work 24/7, in Canada's largest northern city (of 24,000), where you need to keep your cars warm (why?) and his role as a roller derby referee.
Originally from Vancouver, Dylan is a keen ice hockey fan and, as I discovered when I caught up with him for a few days in Canada a couple of years ago, knows his food scene in Vancouver.
