We aren't experts, we're not critics, we're not writers but we are FANS! We're called The Leftovers for a reason. We're like Danny DeVito in Twins. All the talent and originality went into the other podcasts. All the crap that was left over...went into what you listen to on this show. We talk about the latest movies in MARVEL like Avengers: Endgame, DC and STAR WARS. But we also cover other blockbusters and don't shy away from indie films as well. We breakdown and discuss new trailers for upcoming movies. And we got you covered in television with shows like Black Mirror, Perpetual Grace LTD, Wayne, Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, The Mandalorian, Fleabag, Westworld, Dead To Me, The Walking Dead and more. We love to review the first episodes of most shows and let you know if it's worth your time. So strap yourself in and have a good time! Strap yourself in? Really? Just listen. No straps required. Episode 335: Cavill Returning As Superman?, HBO Max, Space Force, Gangs of London, Porno, More Snyder Cut News, Central Park, The Vast of Night, Spawn Movie News, Debt Collectors

Welcome to Episode 335 where the Leftovers are joined by Matt Kirby. In this episode for Good Pop Bad Pop we discuss our thoughts on the newly launched streaming service HBO Max. In movies Brian talks about the new Amazon original movie The Vast of Night set in the 1950’s where on one fateful night in New Mexico, young switchboard operator Fay and charismatic radio DJ Everett discover a strange audio frequency that could change their small town and the future forever. Brian also discusses Debt Collectors with superb martial artist Scott Adkins. Brian also talks about the new film Porno. It’s not what you’re thinking. Porno is a new comedy horror in which five teen employees at the local movie theater in a small Christian town discover a mysterious old film hidden in its basement, they unleash an alluring succubus who gives them a sex education…written in blood.

In TV Matt gives us his thoughts on the series Gangs of London currently not airing here in the United States. It’s from Gareth Evans the man behind The Raid films. We talk about the new animated musical series Central Park on Apple TV Plus from the creators of Bob’s Burgers. And we give our thoughts on the new Greg Daniels/Steve Carell series Space Force.

In the News this week it looks like we have some updates on what’s going on with that Spawn reboot. Leigh Whannell’s movie Upgrade is getting a sequel series. Cobra Kai needs to find a new home and Labyrinth is getting a sequel from Scott Derrickson.

And in DC News we talk the Snyder Cut again with more updates and rumors. Henry Cavill may return as Superman but in what capacity and for how long?

It’s Episode 334 and the Leftovers are joined by Neil Thollander and first time guest Willy Le Sante.

We start off the episode discussing The Snyder Cut news. What does this mean? Are there really going to be zero reshoots? And what can we expect?

In Good Pop Bad Pop we talk about a ton of movies that we’ve watched as well as a few new series that have launched. In Movies we discuss the new Daniel Stern Sci-Fi comedy James vs. His Future Self. In News Movie Pass is being auctioned, Tara Reid is rumored to play Carole Baskin in a Tiger King series and Tom Hanks WWII film Greyhound is going straight to Apple TV+.

In DC News Nolan’s Batman trilogy might be hitting theaters again in June. An unusual DC related item is a heavy seller during this pandemic. And Colin Farrell has some interesting things to say about his role as the Penguin in Matt Reeves The Batman.

And finally in Star Wars news it looks like we might have our answer as to who Timothy Olyphant is playing in The Mandalorian Season 2. Small tease… he’s wearing Boba Fett’s armor but he’s NOT Boba Fett. You gotta listen to learn more. Or just skip the episode and Google it. I guess I didn’t consider that. But saying it out loud I can see where us talking about this news isn’t necessarily exclusive and the news is already out there on the internet. You know what? Save yourself 3 1/2 hours and just read those articles. Anyway, stay safe, have a great week and remember to help out Maui the cat. Thanks Leftover Army!

Approved for so many reasons

Informative, structured and funny as hell. I’ve been getting my pop culture fix from this Podcast since September 2018 while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. At a time of my life when I was disconnected from everything pop culture due to the operational tempo, Pop Culture Leftovers kept me up to date, engaged, and away from depression. The hosts are well informed, witty and offer a distinct but unapologetic perspective on the topic at hand. Listening to this podcast really feels like home, so if you know people overseas (service members, their families, college students), I guarantee you they are as disconnected from pop culture as I once was so do them a favor and recommend this podcast. 5 Stars just isn’t enough.

Great show

Like a B horror movie with equal parts humor and abject horror. This show does it all. They keep me laughing and entertained. As long as they don’t disrespect Barkitechture anymore, because we all care about celebrities spending more on a dog house than regular people do their own homes.

Quarantine MVPs

Hey Leftovers, I’m a teacher and this quarantine has been especially tough since i don’t know if my students are doing okay through it. It’s been a challenge trying to stay entertained and keep my mind distracted through all this and you guys have been a great getaway. Your show and Rogan are the only long-form podcast I can listen to all the way through. I thoroughly enjoy Brian and Jake’s back and forth interactions as well as Rebecca. Thanks for all you do and please keep this show going for another 7 years. Stay safe and keep up the excellent work everyone!
