EPISODE 5: ‘68 & Feeling Grate w/Special Guest: Richard Youngs

EPISODE 5: ‘68 & Feeling Grate w/Special Guest: Richard Youngs

Welcome to episode five of Feeling the Space, broadcast from Omaha, Nebraska and the cluttered offices of Grapefruit Records. As always, our show is divided into three sets. The first set is free form, tracks culled from our record collections. The second set features an interview and live performance from a musical guest. This episode’s special guest is Richard Youngs, the ever-evolving underground artist who has been releasing incredible music since the 1980’s on various independent labels in whatever style or manner fascinates him at the moment. A chameleon, a tireless experimenter, a true hero and inspiration. It was an honor to speak with him about his music, his collaborations, lattes at Starbucks with Jandek, and his feelings about Frank Zappa and the great middle eight in pop music! And he performs four songs for us a capella from his cupboard in Glasgow. Check it out and please enjoy his extensive discography, there is something for everyone in his world. And finally, in our third set which we call Inherent Vibes (the part of our show where we play songs that all share a commonality), we feature songs this time from our bin of recently acquired albums, old and new. It aint much of a theme but it’s yours to enjoy or reject, nonetheless.
