Months after that, she was diagnosed with cancer, but that didn’t stop Jess from living her life. At age 34, she decided that it was the perfect time to change careers and learn more about the automotive trades and industry, and auto refinishing. With zero experience in shop life, with tools, or fixing things, Jess took a nine-month foundation course where she learned the basics and in-shop training. Jess just got her red seal certification and is now working on her first-ever project, a 1989 Chevy G20.

EP. 101: Miranda Rumfelt — “The Hard Work Will Pay Off, You Just Have to Get Through It.”

Miranda Rumfelt was a transportation design student with a background in automotive restoration and racing. She works at General Motors Design as a clay sculptor. Miranda was raised in The Motor City by a family of “wrenchers”, and her life revolved around American Muscle cars. Fantastic message and podcast

This podcast is a perfect representation of women supporting and empowering women. Jayme and her guests pass along such valuable advice to the younger generation of Femcanic’s. I wish this type of positive message was around for me to hear when I was first starting out as an auto mechanic. When I was a guest I felt so comfortable speaking with Jayme. She made me feel so supported and safe when sharing very sensitive stories about my experiences in the automotive industry. Thanks so much Femcanic garage!

Love what femcanics is about

I was on one of the episodes and it was an amazing and easy experience compared to other podcast and videos I’ve done with other organizations. What femcanics stands for is amazing and every female mechanic needs to listen to her podcast.
