    S2 - E31 - Special - Mark's Musical Journey

We continue our Musical Journey series, and Eric returns to hosting duties along with Super Producer/Co-host Jared, from 'Feathers And Friends'
and 'Parrot Gaming Productions' to now shepherd Mark from The Evil Mark Show, the head degenerate on the fastest growing sports show taking the world by storm, which you can hear each Thursday (with ME!), and each.....day TBD, for the NFL/(After Hours in the offseason) show, with Jared, along on his own journey. Find out more information on the Twitter feed.

You can find the playlist for the awesome music and avoid the blah blah blah by clicking here.

The Musical Journey idea was suggested by Gallo, from Sucias Are My Favorite, and the questions/categories spun out from that original idea. Mark switched them up a bit, envisioning that we saddled up alongside each other in a bar and like a real devil in a Twilight Zone episode I asked him to tell me his life story, maybe to determine his fate.....

    1) Most listened to song of the past five years: This Bar - Morgan Wallen

    2) The first 'Real' song I remember that I liked that wasn't a kids song/tv show/commercial: We Built This City - Starship

    3) Favorite song off the first album I ever bought to be the first in my own collection: Pour Some Sugar On Me - Def Leppard

    4) Song that reminds me of my first love (Melissa's Song): I'd Die Without You - P.M. Dawn

    5) Song I listened to in high school that wasn't my taste but opened up other avenues of musical appreciation: Punk Rock Girl - The Dead Milkmen

    6) Song I listened to in high school that was EXACTLY my taste: Let Me Ride - Dr. Dre, Jewell

    7) Song that was in heavy rotation in my 20's and Early 30's: Hard To Handle - Gov't Mule

    8) Song that I listened to which first made me appreciate my current favorite genre (Also my 1st Wife's song): I'll Name The Dogs - Blake Shelton

    9) Song that reminds me of my time with Jenn (Jenn's Song): Give In To Me - Garrett Hedlund, Leighton Meester

    10) Song that reminds me of prison & coming home, my transition period post Jenn/post prison: She Got The Best Of Me - Luke Combs

    11) Song that makes me think of my current situation: Happens Like That (Acoustic) - Granger Smith

    12) Your favorite song of all time: Where I Find God - Larry Fleet

    13) Mark had selected only 12, but Jared decided to add the 13th, much to Eric's lament, with the addition of: Fancy Like - Walker Hayes

We continue with Is It Hootie? now with it's own theme music!

    S2 - E30 - Special - Eric's Musical Journey

    S2 - E30 - Special - Eric's Musical Journey

It's the very first in our long discussed Musical Journey series, and who else to dive on the proverbial emotional grenade than Eric?!?

Shepherding him along on his journey (aka taking over hosting duties and doing a FAR better job at it) are Mark from The Evil Mark Show, the head degenerate on the fastest growing sports show taking the world by storm, which you can hear each Thursday (with ME!), and each.....day TBD, for the NFL/(After Hours in the offseason) show, with Jared. Find out more information on the Twitter feed, and of course Super Producer/Co-host Jared, from 'Feathers And Friends' and 'Parrot Gaming Productions'.

You can find the playlist for the awesome music and avoid the blah blah blah by clicking here.

The Musical Journey idea was suggested by Gallo, from Sucias Are My Favorite, and the questions/categories spun out from that original idea to now include:

    1) The First song you remember (not nursery rhyme or cartoon jingle, the first “real” song your parents or an adult played for you/around you? Layla – Derek & The Dominos

    2) The First song / album that you bought on your own, or was the first in your own collection?  Kill Your Television – Ned’s Atomic
    Dustbin

    3) Song that reminds you of your first crush/date/partner?  Think About You – Guns N Roses

    4) Song you listened to in high school that maybe wasn’t your taste but you still enjoyed?  Watermelon Crawl – Tracy Byrd

    5) Song you listened to in college/military?  Violet - Hole

    6) Song you listened to that first made you appreciate/love your favorite genre, even if it’s not your favorite song? Shadowboxer
    – Fiona Apple

    7)  Song about your current partner?  Slip Slide Melting – For Love Not Lisa

    8) Song that has the top plays on itunes/spotify that is not your favorite –  Begging For Thread - Banks

    9) A Daisy Chain 4 Satan (Acid & Flowers Mix) – My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult
(this is in position 6 because of timing)

    10) Suicide King – Machines Of Loving Grace (this is in position 7 because of timing)

    11) Cuts You Up – Peter Murphy (this is in position 9 because of timing)

    12) Church On White – Stephen Malkmus

    13) Your favorite all time song? Dilate – Ani DiFranco

Mark puts a spin on Is It Aerosmith? by making it Is It Hootie? and it works well enough that we'll stick with that for these Musical Journey eps.

S2 - E29 - Special - FU:E Gone Country - with Jake from 'Life Is Unfair' & Mark from 'The Evil Mark Show'

S2 - E29 - Special - FU:E Gone Country - with Jake from 'Life Is Unfair' & Mark from 'The Evil Mark Show'

This is the first of our special bonus episodes before wrapping up season 2. We went country. Look at them boots. Because we had 4 guests, Jared had the idea to make this the 4x4 edition, so each guest brought 4 country songs to the table. Mark went ALL Morgan Wallen, so feel free to send your hate mail to him at show@evilmark.com.

Joining Eric on this journey into the farmland are:

Super Producer/Co-host Jared, from 'Feathers And Friends' and 'Parrot Gaming Productions'.

Mark from The Evil Mark Show, the head degenerate on the fastest growing sports show taking the world by storm, which you can hear each Thursday (with ME!), and each.....day TBD, for the NFL/(After Hours in the offseason) show, with Jared. Find out more information on the Twitter feed.

Jake, THE HOST :) from Life Is Unfair, THE 'Malcolm In The Middle' rewatch podcast that you can hear each Thursday, as they go in chronological order through the series. They’re also part of the incredible Twitch channel, Lets Play Deathray, where they variety stream all sorts of awesome content, banter back and forth, and interact with their community in amazing ways. Definitely check that out, especially on a Sunday Community Night, where you'll catch them (and also sometimes me), playing Jackbox games, Gartic Phone, Minecraft, or any number of fun games. They stream every night except Friday and Saturday's around 7:30 PM MST.

Jake is also a published author! That’s huge! He wrote a segment in Bi-Visibility, which you can order here.

AND Eric's wife Megan joins to keep Eric on his toes with the laughs.

You can find the playlist here.

We went in alphabetical order in terms of which guest was going first, so Jake led us off with some alt-country offerings by:

Gillian Welch - Pass You By

    Drive-By Truckers - Decoration Day

Cowboy Junkies - Murder, Tonight, In The Trailer Park

Murder By Death - The Big Sleep

Jared went next, with the natural WTF selections you've come to expect that only Jared would bring.

Nashville Tribute Collection - (Garth Brooks) The River

Brooks & Dunn - Boot Scootin' Boogie - Club Mix

    Steve Earle - Copperhead Road

Rodney Carrington - In Her Day - Live

Mark had no problems coming up with his musical journey songs, but he hemmed and (yee) hawed about this one, finally settling on bringing just Morgan Wallen, but then having trouble narrowing THOSE selections down. In the end he brought:

Morgan Wallen - Don't Think Jesus

Morgan Wallen - Had Me By Halftime

Morgan Wallen - More Surprised Than Me

Morgan Wallen - Cover Me Up

And finally, Megan, (with very limited input, but she said significant input from Eric), rounded out the song selections. Hey, I wanted to bring Chris Isaak CLASSIC Wicked Game to the party, and they all said it wasn't country despite being classified in the Wikipedia as such...it's almost like we can't trust things on the internet anymore!

Luke Combs - Even Though I'm Leaving

    Luke Combs - Better Together

    Chris Stapleton - Parachute

Jason Aldean - Don't Give Up On Me

Like an idiot, Eric forgot the "Is It Aerosmith" questions, but at least we still get to hear the theme music and just declared everyone winners!

We have an additional week's break because Eric needs to go on a work trip, but we'll be back on May 16th with Eric's Musical Journey, our 13 song mega-playlist focusing on our lives, our experiences, and our musical tastes and how they've shaped us! You'll get Musical Journey's from all of your favorite guests, so look for those in the feed and until then, enjoy your moonshine!

S2 - Special - File Under: Entertainment Music Madness Tournament - Determining THE Best Artist Of Season 2

S2 - Special - File Under: Entertainment Music Madness Tournament - Determining THE Best Artist Of Season 2

With the alphabet in the rear-view, this special episode is the File Under: Entertainment Music Madness Tournament, pitting the 56 artists covered in season 2 to determine the best of the best.

Joining Eric in this journey are:

Super Producer/Co-host Jared, from 'Feathers And Friends' and 'Parrot Gaming Productions'.

Mark from The Evil Mark Show, the head degenerate on the fastest growing sports show taking the world by storm, which you can hear each Thursday (with ME!), and each Monday, for the NFL/(After Hours in the offseason) show, with Jared. Find out more information at www.evilmark.com and check out the Twitter feed.

Jake & David, from Life Is Unfair, THE 'Malcolm In The Middle' rewatch podcast that you can hear each Thursday, as they go in chronological order through the series. They’re also part of the incredible Twitch channel, Lets Play Deathray, where they variety stream all sorts of awesome content, banter back and forth, and interact with their community in amazing ways. Jake is also a published author! That’s huge! He wrote a segment in Bi-Visibility, which you can order here.

AND Eric's wife Megan makes a triumphant return to podcasting to help us with our voting and upstage Eric with the laughs.

I get into the details pretty quick into the episode, but for those who like to read the show notes and know exactly what's in store before pushing play, here's the rundown (what the hell's a rundown? inside joke for Mark):

March Madness is in full swing, and even if you aren’t a fan of sports, or college basketball in particular, tournament time lends itself very well to pop culture discussion, which is what we are going to do here today, pitting the 56 artists that we’ve covered in this music season against each other to determine who is the best of the best.

I was browsing Reddit, and in the Industrial music thread was a post where a user was looking for band recommendations, and Music-Map.com was recommended, which is an algorithm based program where you input an artist and it tells you similar artists that you may be interested in.

Finding it to be fairly accurate when playing around, I decided to check which artists we had covered on the show were referenced on other artist pages. As I started to keep track I was wondering, what the hell am I doing this for, what am I going to do with this information, and then it hit me…..also being a sports fan, I knew that the college basketball tournament was coming up, colloquially known as March Madness, so I decided, File Under Entertainment will have a tournament of our own, to determine which artist is “the best” of those we’ve covered.

With a 56 team single elimination tournament, there are no regions and multiple 1’s, 2’s, etc. It is seeded 1 – 56, with the top 8 seeds receiving first round byes which means that the #9 seed, Bob Dylan, has the distinction of facing off against the lowest rank #56 seed, The Zutons with 10 vs 55 and so on.

After our introductions we get right into the matchups and just like REAL Tourney-Time, there are a lot of upsets and unexpected twists.

No spoilers directly from me, I encourage everyone to listen to the drama play out in real time, but I guess if you were so inclined you could cut to the chase and have it revealed for you by following the runners-up playlist link here, and the Champions playlist link here.

Some more special music related episodes will be coming your way soon, but for now, enjoy this feast of the senses!

File under F for funny

My husband is pretty clever and since he hosts this show I think there is something in our marriage vows about needing to support his shenanigans, blah blah blah. Five stars.

Great

Albeit I’m biased because it’s my show. Just wanted to get us off to a good start ratings wise, waiting for the bevy of ratings to follow. ;)
