S2 - E05 - "E" - Ellie Goulding - Eminem - with Jared from 'Feathers And Friends‪'‬ File Under: Entertainment Podcast

    • TV & Film

I'm sure you were expecting the 1940's movies pod, because we told you that was next on the docket, but things have been "re-organized around the filing cabinet" that is File Under: Entertainment.

Dylan has decided to take an extended (likely permanent) hiatus from the show to focus on music and his other creative endeavors, which means that it's a lot of Eric in your ear-holes from now on, but I am granting your senses a reprieve because I will be bringing in a bunch of my friends, many of which I have made through the world of podcasting, to help me on the journey through the rest of the alphabet.

The once (a bit too) ambitious season two will therefore be streamlined to focus strictly on the mainline music episodes, so unfortunately no more decades movies or Side Splitters, at least for the time being.

In this first foray into the great unknown without Dylan as my co-pilot, I have instead Jared, from 'Feathers And Friends' and 'Parrot Gaming Productions' that helped me discuss Ellie Goulding, and Eminem.

I know how much of a pain it is to try to listen to the pod, then pause to go to ostensibly another program to listen to the song we discuss, only to double back to listen to us discuss said song for a couple minutes and then rinse/repeat, so we tried something different here, embedding the songs in the episode for hopefully a seamless transition. I don't know how long we will get away with it, maybe only this once (or maybe not EVEN this once), but here's a roll of the dice to try to make the episodes more palatable for everyone.

Worst case, there is a way to have the music in the eps, but listener-ship would be limited to Spotify itself, and we get a lot of listens through other platforms so I wanted to try to avoid hamstringing the show if possible, but we'll see.

We're embarking on a new path here, so we are forging our own way and hopefully not getting crushed.

Back to the ep. The songs discussed, in order, are: (at least I think thats the correct order of the Eminem songs, we got loosey goosey with it, and I'm also feeling a little loopy and sleep deprived still from a busy week of podcasting, so my apologies if they are out of order.)

Ellie Goulding - Guns And Horses

Ellie Goulding - Heal

Ellie Goulding - Paradise

Ellie Goulding - Lights

Ellie Goulding - Explosions

Eminem - The Real Slim Shady

Eminem - Hailie's Song

Eminem - White America

Eminem - Stan

Eminem - Rap God

Caution, we did remove a homophobic slur from White America, but unfortunately there are numerous and there would be too many edits in Rap God to remove all of them, so do be aware that they remain if you are sensitive to that word, and please accept our apologies. Neither Jared nor myself, nor either of our shows, condone homophobia in any way.

If you would like to e-mail the show, you may do so at Fileunderpod@gmail.com. You can follow us on Twitter and vote in our polls, or tell us how awful we are, @FileUnderPod.

You can hear more of me, (and future guest on the show), Mark, at The Evil Mark Show, which posts episodes each Tuesday and Thursday (I am on the Thursday show). You can find that show here. And our new YouTube channel is here.
