Do you like films? Do you like debating whether a film is a cinematic triumph, or if it’s a big hot mess? Well, we’ve got a just the podcast for you. We aim to settle those raging debates once and for all, as we put Films on Trial
We’re five lads from Liverpool and each week we will act as judge, prosecution, defence and witness, as we recreate a courtroom scenario, and decide whether a much loved (or hated) film should end up on the Hit List or not. There are also regular sections on news, trailer/poster of the week, film trivia and quizzes. Plus banter, terrible impressions, musical interludes, and lots of debating.

    Reanimator

    Reanimator

    The HP Lovecraft horror classic, Reanimator is on trial this week. Is this a film that should have been left to rest? or is it in everyones interest that it is kept alive?

    This weeks quiz is all about Lovecraft and loads of other great content... as always.

    1917

    1917

    This week we put 1917 on trial. Is it a on-shot, war-time, cinematic masterpiece? Or, should it have been left in the trenches?

    This is the first episode we have recorded in 2020 as we had some major equipment failure over the Christmas period and no money to fix or replace things. So, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE accept our apologies for the slow start to the year and for any dips in sound quality for this episode. It's all new equipment and this recording was actually the first time we opened the box.

    Anyway, we're back for the new year with most of the usual stuff... impressions, xylphones, insults, a quiz and most importantly our judgement on the film!

    Hope you all had a great festive period!

    Bone Alone

    Bone Alone

    Bone Alone is on trial! Is it delicious calcium based chew with a wonderful marrow filled core or is it just the scraps from the table with a few dregs of somebody elses wonderful meal still attached?

    Not a delightful image for comparison this week but then it is the middle of January and we're allowed to be a little more negative than usual. :S

    Bone Alone is not a humourously titiled porn parody it is in fact an homage to the Christmas Classic Home Alone but with dogs. Obviously this was Gav's Christmas film pick. The rest of the episode is filled with:

    the usual banter;
    witty and sarcastic one liners;
    not so witty one-liners;
    even less witty out and out bullying;
    some xylophone playing;
    a quiz; and
    plenty of other exciting things to pleasure your listening holes.

    This episode should have come out back in December, but we struggled to get together to record in the last week of December because we all underestimate just how incredibly difficult it can be to fit everything in between Christmas and New Year. Plus, when it's such a huge film like Bone Alone, you really don't want to just go through the motions.

    We apologise from the bottom of our dog bowls about the irregular programming over the holiday period and we promise to be more organised in the future.. ;)

    As ever many many thanks to everyone who hehlps us create the podcast particularly our wonderful graphic artist Winston Tsang (IG: @the_quirks) (even though we didn't send him anything to make for this one... he deserved a week off)

    Scrooged

    Scrooged

    On the fourth week of Christmas Films on Trial forgot to release an episode... because they were too busy getting in the festive spirit. So, better late than never: Scrooged is on trial this week. Will this put a little love in your heart? or will just the thought it give you a heart attack?

    I know, I know not my greatest intro blurb but it's January and I'm feeling the full effects of a Christmas of excess. Perhaps a visit by some Christmas spirits will see us all through this dark month.

    The quiz starts at about 55 minutes and 20 seconds and the rest of the episode is filled with hilarious back and forth, little known facts about things vaguely related to the film, some tremendous xylophone playing and a distinct lack of Joel and Alex but don't worry Mr. Personality and Baldilocks will return in next week's episode.

    The Night Before

    The Night Before

    On the 3rd Week of Christmas Films on Trial brought to me... a stoner film with a wholesome story.
    Or is it...

    We put The Night Before on trial this week.
    Is this a Yuletide laugh a minute, or more of a boxing day log?
    Film feels is all about our favourite musician cameo (as themselves).
    Joel brings a quiz about the film (starting at 49 minutes and 47 seconds... extra accuracy provided to keep Gav happy).
    All of that and more..(not much more, but more nonetheless).

    Merry Christmas!

A1 Podcast, must listen!

This has to be by far my favorite podcast out there. It's the only podcast I refuse to listen at work because it should uninterrupted. The concepts is fresh and clever, the segments leading up and after the main argument keep you entertained the entire time, and of course.... their banter is not only sophisticatedly interesting, but also full of crazy wild debates and hilarious flourishes. For sure, best podcast out there, A1 Steak Sauce... and I listen to Pardon My Take.
