How Financial Advisors Can Conquer Workaholism

How Financial Advisors Can Conquer Workaholism

Most financial advisors dream of an amazing life when they start their business. They think they’ll make more money than ever, spend a ton of time with their family and go on exotic vacations.
But reality is usually different. You’re working 10 hours a day, constantly checking your phone to see if a prospect has replied. And if you went on a vacation, your business would collapse because your clients can’t reach you. And that time with your kids? You might even secretly feel guilty about not growing your business at that time.
This happens everywhere. It’s called workaholism. And if it got results, it would simply be the price of success. But workaholism usually hurts your business instead of growing it.
This week’s guest Travis Parry is the author of “Finding Balance” - a book on ending workaholism so you can live your best life.
In this episode, you’ll discover how you can stop being a workaholic and get more results in less time. Want to get more clients without working harder? Listen now!
    Show highlights include:
Why taking a vacation grows your business faster than hustling 24/7 (11:31) How reading in your bed can kill your productivity (15:40) The “Productivity Myth” that lets you accomplish more in 50 hours per week than “hustlers” do in 80 (21:39) How workaholism can cause a “gray divorce” that erodes your relationship with your spouse (33:48) If you’re looking for a way to set more appointments with qualified prospects, sign up for James’ brand new webinar about how financial advisors can get more clients with email marketing.

Are RIAs Better Marketers? (With Brad Wales)

Are RIAs Better Marketers? (With Brad Wales)

Starting out as a financial advisor is simple: If you join a big firm, you don’t have to build relationships with brokerages or create your own brochures and other marketing materials.
But that comfort comes at a cost: Big firms can restrict how and where you market. They can limit who you work with and what your clients can invest in.
But you don’t have to live with these limitations. Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) have almost complete freedom in their business.
This week’s guest Brad Wales helps financial advisors transition to RIAs so they can have complete freedom in their own business without worrying about company guidelines.
Want to find out how to reclaim your freedom in your business? Listen now!
    Show highlights include:
How “going RIA” gives you more flexibility and more revenue. (5:38) Why the “knuckleheads” in your firm restrict your marketing and lower your revenue (even if they have no authority and zero clients). (6:17) How the RIA model lets you take home 60-70% of the revenue you generate (if you’re willing to take on extra responsibility). (12:02) 2 words of advice that let you never worry about company restrictions again.(14:00) Why you’re indirectly paying expensive compliance firms (even if they’ve never sent you a bill). (18:04) How you’re subsidizing the worst advisors at your firm (unless you’re already independent). (20:35) Why you shouldn’t become an RIA if you’ve got “golden handcuffs” (even if you hate restrictions). (23:15) If you’re looking for a way to set more appointments with qualified prospects, sign up for James’ brand new webinar about how financial advisors can get more clients with email marketing.

Financial Advisor Gets 14 Clients From A Single Email

Financial Advisor Gets 14 Clients From A Single Email

Getting clients as a financial advisor can be excruciating. You cold-call, create content, send emails, attend networking events and maybe even pay for ads. The result? A few appointments with lukewarm prospects who just want your advice so they can manage their money themselves.
But if you market yourself well, you don’t have to hustle that hard. You can talk to pre-qualified prospects without fancy sales scripts, high-tech ad setups or harassing strangers. One financial advisor even set 14 appointments by writing a simple email.
In this episode, you’ll find out how he did it (and what you can learn from his strategies so you can do the same). Want to land more clients with simpler marketing? Listen now!
    Show highlights include:
Why email marketing is the most effective appointment-setting strategy (and how to use it to strengthen your other marketing strategies). (0:55) Why posting on Facebook and Twitter is a waste of time (even if it got you clients before). (2:47) The “autoresponder” method that sets client appointments while you’re asleep. (9:08) Why a massive email list, expensive software and beautiful design won’t get you appointments if you’re using the wrong words. (14:32) How a 3 page PDF can make the difference between an ice-cold lead and a red-hot prospect. (17:37) If you’re looking for a way to set more appointments with qualified prospects, sign up for James’ brand new webinar about how financial advisors can get more clients with email marketing.

AskMyAdvisor™ ,

As a retired FA-turned FA coach myself, this is “Grade A” content James is putting out!

I’m moved by businesses that are driven by education based marketing because you get value that moves well beyond the many that end up being too pitchy (knowingly or unknowingly) imho. This is a great series to follow.

Sexist...?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has written a negative review due to this topic.

During one episode - a female who was a subscriber to his newsletter is discussed. She asked to put her subscription on pause while on maternity leave. He talks about he not only told her no, but he goes on to blacklist her so she’s unable to resubscribe and then shames her for wanting to focus on her family while on her leave. He tells her she now has a family to think about and it is her responsibility to work even harder during this time.

So incredibly out of touch with reality. I was enjoying the podcast up until this point. Shaming women is a hard pass for me.

James knows his stuff

I have listened to him and used his techniques and the actually produce results.
Thank you James.
