    Babes in Toyland (1986)

Drewcember concludes with our final episode of the year...and it's a doozy! Come with us on a journey of complete chaos as we discuss the 1986 made-for-TV movie Babes in Toyland, which starred a tween Drew Barrymore  and a young Keanu Reeves. It's set in Toyland, a magical fairytale realm where Marie believes all TikTok fashion aesthetics are birthed from. Costumes designed by Evangeline Harrison.

    The Stand-In (2020)

    The Stand-In (2020)

Drewcember continues with The Stand-In, Drew Barrymore’s most recent film from 2020. Our queen plays a washed-up movie star who hires her old stand-in to go to rehab in her place. And yes, Drew plays both roles, Eddie Murphy-style! This movie may have been a victim of the pandemic and not seen by many when it first came out, but it’s a must-see for any Drewbie. Especially since we rarely get to see her play these type of “unlikeable” characters! As for costumes, there are a few glamorous standouts from costume designer Sarah Mae Burton (The King of Staten Island, The Big Sick) but it's really all about Miss Barrymore.

    Home Fries

    Home Fries

For this week’s very special Drewcember episode, we have our friends and Drew Barrymore superfans, Ashley and Anne from How Do You Drew Podcast and the Drewseum joining us to discuss Home Fries. This 1998 dark “rom-com” stars Drew as a pregnant, Dolly Parton-obsessed Burger-Matic employee whose baby daddy is literally frightened to death by his two stepsons, one being played by Luke Wilson. Costumes are by Jill M. Ohanneson (who we talked about in our Bill and Ted episode and who did Revenge, Six Feet Under, and tons more). Jill put a curly-haired Drew in floral print dresses and cardigans for a sweet Southern girl look. While we’re sad an alleged Dollywood scene was cut out of this quirky movie, we have a blast talking about all things Drew! (Including her apparent “workplace crush” on Jim Carrey during the filming of Batman Forever.)

    Grey Gardens (2009)

    Grey Gardens (2009)

It’s our fifth annual Drewcember! Grab a plate of some bedside hot buttered corn and your best costume of the day because it’s time for Grey Gardens! Drew Barrymore stars as Little Edie Beale alongside Jessica Lange as Big Edie, the reclusive mother and daughter who lived in a decaying mansion for almost 50 years. Costume designer Catherine Marie Thomas (Kill Bill, Whip It, 27 Dresses) is behind the exquisite recreations of the 'fits Little Edie was known for. We have fun breaking down the looks of our favorite staunch character-slash-style icon while comparing to the OG Grey Gardens documentary from the 1970s, and then somehow go from talking about the Edith Beales to guessing the zodiac sign of Jigsaw from the Saw movies? Don’t ask…just tune in. Bye!

    The Holiday (2006)

    The Holiday (2006)

Now that we’re really getting into *Mariah* season, it’s time to make yourself a plate of Christmas Fettucine and put on The Holiday! Nancy Meyers’s iconic rom-com gets us in the mood to wear cable knit sweaters, shearling coats, and berets. Marlene Stewart (who styled early Madonna, and did costume design for everything from Coyote Ugly, to To Wong Foo, and The Lost City) is behind the cozy sophisticated costumes. She put Cameron Diaz in tons of designer winterwear that makes us LA gals wish we could spend time in the snow! Listen to us break down the looks, discuss how Cameron ran through the snow in high heels, and find out what we’re adding to cart!

    Falling for Christmas (2022)

    Falling for Christmas (2022)

Friends, we are HERE for the comeback of our queen Lindsay Lohan! In the new Netflix Christmas movie Falling for Christmas. Lindsay plays a hotel heiress who litrully falls down a mountain and can’t remember who she is, then meets a snow lodge owner and romance ensues. It’s giving Overboard in the snow. The looks, courtesy of costume designer Emerson Alvarez are to-die-for especially a certain head-to-toe pink snowsuit number that we can't stop thinking about even though we live in LA. Watch the movie on Netflix and listen to our episode break it all down. PS. We’re ready for a Parent Trap sequel now…

Longtime listener

This is such a comfort podcast for me. These podcasters are so cool and fun to listen to. I learn new things each episode, they really know their designers and movies. I love the cult flavor of movies they choose, classic 90s but then they choose new movies too. Y’all are the best, keep it up!
