From the team that brings you Flagrant Mag comes Flagrant Pod, the newest creative endeavor out of the Digital is Dead Empire. You probably know Flagrant from our ‘as seen on TV’ basketball magazine, but now there’s something new up our shooting sleeves. With a new subject every season, you never know what part of the basketball world we’ll be exploring next. Join us in this newest chapter of the Flagrant story.
In this episode, Ashtyn takes over hosting duties for Ciara, and Brazilia and Alex are on to talk about how a perma-19-year-old man thinks scoring points is disrespectful, also, lots of d*ck stuff (too much, honestly).
Whispered Tales | Help Side
Turn the audio up for this one, because Ciara, Ashtyn, and Brazilia are whispering their way through the pod. Or at least, one of them is. They chat about The Choke, Russel Westbrook heading to the bench, LaMelo's tatto, and do some visual work.
Bite Bite | Help Side
Noted MN Timberwolves fan Katie Davidson joins the pod bc the Wolves are so back! We also discuss Jordan Poole being Not Ok, the Suns maybe being frauds, and the absolutely insane roster that makes up the LA Clippers.
Crypto Crimes | Help Side
Harry Krinsky joins the pod to talk about Chet flying under the radar, the LSU blowout, and most importantly, the craziest crypto stories you've ever heard.
Balloween | Help Side
Ciara, Brazilia, and Alex answer a question from Portland's new acquisition, review the NBA in season tournament courts, give advice to players about their halloween costumes, and also do other stuff (if you care)
Un Podcast Sul Basket | Help Side
Ciara, Alex, and even Ashtyn gather round the mics to talk about the end of the WNBA season, Syd Colson the perfect poster, the new NBA city uniforms, and some other stuff if you even believe it.
This one’s a banger
Amazing content! Alex is a bona fide star.
The Austin Minnesota Spam Packers
This year was supposed to have a lot of plans. I had decided that 2023 was gonna be a Good Year. And then I got laid off 10 days into the year.
It’s been a rough time, but when I wasn’t worrying about bills and my personal career growth, I was distracting myself with things I cared about, like basketball. Unfortunately, a lot of people who talk about basketball are…truly unwell. I see so many basketball takes that I mentally categorize into two boxes: “why is this something you care about?” and/or “why would you put this thought out into the public?”.
But then there’s the Flagrant pod! These folks approach basketball with such a love and knowledge of the sport while still understanding that these are actual humans. They get that this is a game predicated on people being paid large sums of money to play a children’s sport (at the highest level), and that it’s simply not that serious (except when it is!). The hosts are all so smart, funny, and talented, and they get that things like labor, race, and gender play an intrinsic role in, well, all of it! They get that basketball can be as beautiful and well-choreographed as a ballet, but it can also be as goofy and weird as a dog dragging his butt across the floor.
And apologies for getting all parasocial, but each episode does feel like just hanging out with your buds for an hour, talking ball, and catching up on life. It’s fun and comforting.
I don’t really know what’s next for me, what I’ll be doing in the future, near or far, but I know I’ll be listening to these folks talk about bakkyball, cancel discourses, and list off their rosebudthorns for as long as they feel like it.
wow what a podcast
Such a brave concept to combine humor and basketball together. I couldn’t believe my ears, I didn’t know sports pods could be funny. I think I had forgotten how to laugh, and now I can’t stop. You’ll be hearing from my lawyers.
