A Multiverse of Loki Before You

A Multiverse of Loki Before You

Is that really you or is that your variant coming to greet us? One can never be too certain when trying to maintain the sacred timeline, you know. Whether it's Classic Loki, Sylvie, or Alligator Loki, one thing is for sure, Loki always keeps us coming back for more!

The temp-pads have all been charged up and the branch realities are almost at the red line, but the boys of Flame ON! are ready to spill the tea on the latest television installment from Marvel Studios, Loki! They kick off the conversation chatting about the things that they enjoyed most from the series including the pacing, the action, the set pieces, (if you know Bryan at all) the amazing use of the Theremin in creating a truly captivating score, and of course, some of the memorable variants including breakout star, Alligator Loki! After a brief station identification, they dig into some areas where the felt the show might have slightly missed the mark including the pacing, unearned character growth, the short season length, and the fact that Owen Wilson never did his trademark "Wow" during his scenes. As they wrap up their conversation, Bryan throws out the question of how the birth of the multiverse in this show will impact and tie together as we make our way to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Do you think the boys have the answer? What do you think will happen? Listen in for their thought and share yours on social media! The boys would love to hear it!

A Special Tulip Made of Hellfire

A Special Tulip Made of Hellfire

Come on in, everyone is invited to our very own Hellfire Gala! Ok, well maybe this isn't THE Hellfire Gala, but the boys of Flame ON! have gotten themselves gussied up for a deep dive into the pop culture that's tickling their Tulip fantasy!

We're deep into the summer and it's almost as hot as Hellfire here in the States and that can only mean one thing, it's time for the July pop culture round up! The boys have donned their best mutant attire as they get ready to discuss the pop culture that is currently tickling their fancies. In this episode the boys discuss the new indie comic/trade paperback, Everyone is Tulip, created by Dave Baker and Nicole Goux (lovely friends of our Pod and frequent artist alley pals), the brand new horror/mystical Netflix movie trilogy, Fear Street (part one along with a dash of part two), as well as the final season of Ryan O'Connell's series, Special. The boys then break for a brief station identification along with shameless plugs for the website and Patreon where our listeners can support the show and get great perks like BeeJay's horrorscopes which you'll get to hear in this break! After the break BeeJay, Bryan, and Pat do a massive dive into the X-Men's line-wide crossover spectacular, The Hellfire Gala, which promised fireworks, but did the boys think that it delivered? Listen in to find out! After the Gala has ended the boys share their 1-Ups AKA the things that are giving them life this month before signing off from this broadcast.

Kink, Fetish, and Pride, Oh My!

Kink, Fetish, and Pride, Oh My!

Ready to let your freak flag fly? It seems that every year social media is flooded with posts about kink and pride festivals and how the two should never meet, but the boys of Flame ON! are here to break down the discussion that is on everyone's fingertips!

As Pride month comes to an end, the boys of Flame ON! have gathered to discuss a hot button topic that seems to come up every year lately on social media and that is whether or not there is a place for kink at Pride events. Is this a topic that is really having an impact on the community, or is it a highly planned disinformation attack on LGBTQIA+ events by accounts meant to rile up right wing social media users? The boys tackle this discussion as well as aspects of Pride events that are lacking and should be topics being dissected by the community. They also talk about the beginnings of Pride, how virtual Pride events during the pandemic have opened up accessibility to events otherwise inaccessible, as well as where they feel Pride events should be headed in order to continue moving in a positive, more progressive direction. The boys round out the conversation with talks about intersectionality and how indiscriminate "canceling" of those with differing viewpoints closes the door on teachable moments and the ability to hold people accountable for their own growth and development when they fall short in social matters.

What are your thoughts on these topics? Do you agree with the discussion being had or do you have a different opinion? Listen in and let us know!

Screw Pride, It's All About Wrath This Year

Screw Pride, It's All About Wrath This Year

While it may be Pride Month here in the United States, we think that everyone can agree that Wrath Month would be more appropriate. Our community needs to step up more now than ever to ensure that the most vulnerable of us are defended. While we celebrate, we also need to ensure that we never stop moving forward!

The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer and the pop culture is hot, hot, hot, so Bryan, Erik, and Pat da Bear have come together to dish the dirt and spill the tea on the month in pop culture! First, they chat about what Pride (or Wrath as we're now referring to it) will look like in their respective cities in a post-COVID vaccine world before they dive into their topics for the month. From there, they chat about the (in the United States) HBO Max series, Ghosts, and the lack of success that British television series imports have on this side of the pond (with a few obvious exceptions). They also discuss the feature film version of the Tony Award winning musical, In The Heights, by Lin-Manuel Miranda now playing in theaters as well as streaming for a limited time on HBO Max. The final topic (aside from some tangents) is the Disney+ original series, Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston now streaming every Wednesday as the newest part of Marvel's Phase Four! Before wrapping up their chat, the boys dive into the things (and there were many this month) that are giving them life in the 1-UPs section!

It's Pride month here in the US and what better way to kick off this year's pride festivities than by celebrating a huge milestone in this gay and geeky podcast's history! That's right, Flame ON! has turned ten! That's a decade's worth of pop culture, news, and shade and we are here to celebrate. In honor of the occasion, our current hosts, BeeJay, Bryan, Erik, and Pat have convened to chat about the amazing moments that have experienced being part of the show as well as stand out moments in pop culture over the past decade, but that's not all, former hosts, Joshua Yehl (now of IGN fame), Jarrod (our resident Guytoonist), and former straight boy on the floor, Jeff have all joined the party to talk about their time on Flame ON! as well! This anniversary celebration wouldn't be complete without discussing some new developments for the show and our listeners, so we've FINALLY unveiled our new Patreon tiers, which now include our first ever physical swag items!

Returnal of the Kombat Fantasy Machines

Returnal of the Kombat Fantasy Machines

GET OVER HERE... and listen up! Your geriatric millennial (and one late Gen X) hosts are warming up their microphones by Liu Kang's horribly CGI'd hand fire after trial by Mortal Kombat and they can't wait to discuss the month in pop culture with you!

The days are growing longer and the weather is getting warmer and the pop culture is ready for the boys of Flame ON! Join the boys as they dive into their monthly topics including the digital version of Final Fantasy Fan Festival where they announced the final expansion pack for the current version of Final Fantasy XXIV, the new Netflix family comedy from Sony's animation studio, The Mitchells Vs. The Machines which warmed the hearts of even the harshest technophobe, as well as the Groundhog Day/Alien/Metroid love child for the Playstation 5, Returnal which makes fantastic use of the new haptic feedback system built into the DualSense™ controllers. The boys also chat about the bloody, gory, (not so) flawless victory of the newly rebooted Mortal Kombat film franchise currently in theaters and streaming to HBO Max as well as the newly announced Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal films coming to Netflix as well as the Pride collection currently being sold at Target. Before wrapping up the show, the boys share their 1-UPs for the month AKA the pop culture that is giving them LIFE! They also share that there will be a live stream house party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Flame ON! on Saturday June 5th and the arrival of four new tiers to the Patreon platform! Go check them out now and you can help support the show AND get some amazing perks for doing it!

Diversity in geekdom

This show gives a voice to others in the geek world. The ideas and passion expressed on this show mirror my own in alot of the nerd fields. When it doesnt, it still make me think and give critical thought to what they talking about. I wish they address steven universe more. I wish Orel go off on Brian more. And brian and bj to give drunk rants and review to bad tv!! Thanks for being with me on long drives
