Bad Advice

The guy advising against 401(k) plans is clueless. He does damage to those who should be setting money aside consistently in a K plan and don’t because of listening to a “professional” advisor like him. Most companies match the employee’s contribution from 25% up to 100%. Where can you get a better return than that? Companies also permit you to be invest in a basket of funds based on risk tolerance. I’m 75 now and financially secure and my K plan I paid into over 30 years has a lot to do with that.

The other comment he makes is about using big company names to justify purchase of permanent life insurance to fund executive life insurance. This is because the owner and beneficiary is the company. So the company with a perpetual life will eventually get their return from the life insurance death proceeds. An individual doesn’t have this advantage.
