Description #57 - It takes a special kind of nurse to work with victims of sexual assault. I had the honor of interviewing one of these very special nurses, Maie McKenzie. Marie has used her training in Forensic Nursing and as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) in both the Emergency Department and community rape crisis centers.

Marie has worked in the areas of Emergency/Trauma, Risk Management, Leadership, and Forensic Nursing as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, Marie has functioned both in the Emergency Department and community rape crisis centers.
Marie McKenzie is an accomplished and experienced Registered Nurse, community volunteer, victims advocate, and trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. When she is not on the job, Marie volunteers and advocates for survivors of sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, and individuals who are experiencing homelessness. She has volunteered for food banks, crisis pregnancy center, homeless organizations, and
she was a board member for the Inner Truth Project, a center that strives to change the conversation surrounding sexual violence and help survivors find their voices.
