Ostrolenk speaks with Frederic Lowen, who is a psychotherapist, Bioenergetic therapist and Executive Director of The Alexander Lowen Foundation. He also is manager of Lowen copyrights and son of Alexander Lowen, M.D. the creator of Bioenergetic Analysis.
Frederic talks about his path to become a bioenergetic therapist which included a thirty year or so break from the somatic therapy world to purpose business interests including solar energy.
Mr. Lowen discusses the history of Bioenergetic therapy which goes all the way back to Dr Wilhelm Reich who provided therapy and instruction to his father Dr. Alexander Lowen in the 1940’s in the United States.
Frederic explains the Bioenergetic model and how it is implemented in the therapeutic setting to include assessing character structure, the clients biography and working with the energy of the body as well as its physical structure. He concludes with a discussion of the Alexander Lowen Foundation and its various educational and therapeutic offerings
