    How Melissa Odum, CEO + Founder of Queendom Aesthetics Turned A Product Made At Home For Her Children Into A Million Dollar Business

    Today on the Friends in Beauty Podcast I welcomethe CEO and Founder of Queendom Aesthetics, Melissa Odum, to the Friends in Beauty guest chair. Queendom Aesthetics is the #1 largest, black-woman owned vegan, holistic, and wellness spa based in New Orleans & in Slidell, Louisiana. 
     
    Since Queendom's founding in 2015, Melissa has been able to help millions with their spa services and handmade/manufactured all-natural vegan skin and body products made in-house. In that same year and again in 2019, Queendom Aesthetics was voted best beauty products by various awarding agencies.  And In 2020 Melissa was inducted into the only Black Spa Hall of Fame. 
     
    With encouragement from a few friends, what was just an interest in skincare turned into a business idea and a million-dollar enterprise. Queendom grossed $1.7 million in 2020 and over $2 million during the pandemic alone by Nov. 2021. Since 2017, Melissa has been able to organically grow her business and following without any paid advertisements or major features. She has remained a student to the business and her industry, as well as having an amazing product. 
     
    I absolutely enjoyed this conversation with Melissa. When I say sis was dropping bars…pure gems. She gave some excellent advice & painted the perfect picture for what the Queendom Aesthetics spa experience will be and I like so ready to hop a flight to New Orleans.

I love listening to this podcast. Working in the beauty world and trying to make friends can be nerve wrecking because you want the relationships to be genuine. I love to hear the back story of how you know the people you have bought into the show. The episode with Vivian Wynter spoke to me in so many ways. Gotta go listen again. Thanks for creating this!
