The Lure of the Victim Mindset - Episode 168

The Lure of the Victim Mindset - Episode 168

Life is full of situations that are out of our control. Once we have recovered from the initial shock of what has happened, how do we proceed? Do we continue to live as if we are powerless? Or do we make choices that we can control to heal and move forward? We have to be accountable and conscious with how we respond to what happens to us. Today we discuss the victim mindset and how that is often a default response mechanism, but how it is so important to choose to take ownership of our lives.

Balancing Autonomy and Partnership in a Committed Relationship - Episode 167

Balancing Autonomy and Partnership in a Committed Relationship - Episode 167

Our relationships, especially committed ones like marriage, give us the opportunity to influence and be influenced. We may value and prioritize many of the same things, but we will also have areas that are not congruent with our partner’s values. In those times, how do we react? Today we discuss the difference between trying to motivate and influence our partner in a healthy manner, and trying to manipulate and control them merely to get our own way.

How Our Relationships Influence our Internal Motivation - Episode 166

Each of us have areas of our lives where we are naturally motivated, disciplined, and focused. Helping Children be Intrinsically Motivated - Episode 165

Have you ever wondered what motivates you to make good decisions, work hard, or put effort into the important areas of your life? Have you wondered the most effective way to motivate others around you, especially your children? Today we start a 3-part discussion on Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic motivation and how one can often influence the other.

Today we begin a new format for this podcast.
