#fromtheheart: How to Support those Grieving & the Best Advice My Mother Gave Me Doin’ Girly Things

    • Non-Profit

What’s the best piece of advice your mom has ever given you? On this episode I discuss grief and the lessons I learned from my mother in the 23 years we had together.

This year I wanted to celebrate my mom by recording a podcast about my favorite life lessons from her. Life’s not fair and it was never designed to be that way. Using your tragedy to be your greatest motivator is the theme of this episode.
This episode I discuss the first week, month and year after your loved one passes away and the best way to be supportive for family and friends going through grief.

Best pieces of advice from Megan’s mother:
Passion! “A day wasted with the wrong man, is a day you won’t be with the right one”Being generic and not wasting money/timeTips when your friend is going through a grief period:
Don’t go to them for comfort (it is hitting them harder than you probably)Check up on them in a month/later so they do not feel aloneHelp out with the little things (toilet paper, food, laundry)The phrase that I used to repeat days following the accident was, "I've survived 100% of my worst days and today is no different."

I gave a special shout out to the Lough family and Olivia for helping to keep me alive during the roughest first weeks and months after the accident.
Resources that I found for motherless daughters:
Motherless daughter group
Motherless Daughter Book
Option B book
