Neither Logan Gilbert nor Jarred Kelenic did anything in their Major League debuts that will land on any highlight reels. Kelenic went 0-for-4, and Gilbert gave up four runs on five hits in four innings, including two home runs. Honestly though, were you really expecting a no-hitter from Gilbert, or three 450-foot home runs from Kelenic? They both showed promise, a glimmer of hope for better days ahead for this team. At the very least, it's no worse than the M's were playing without them. We dig into the numbers a bit more to add context, but the big takeaway is that two of the biggest prospects in the Mariners organization, and in all of baseball, have made it to The Show. Now let's see what they do over the next few months, and hopefully years. The Stanley Cup Playoffs begin tomorrow. We run through some of the matchups you should pay especially close attention to on the Power Play.
