Welcome to the Gabba Gabba Huh? Podcast, featuring the best of The Carolinas' punk, alternative, hard rock, and heavy metal from the past 40 years. While the main podcast (Gabba Gabba Huh? Talks) will be more converstional and interview style, while "Gabba Gabba Huh? Radio" will focus on the music, with some background information on the songs and bands featured. Most songs will be digitized from original vinyl, cassette, or CD sources, thus the quality will vary, but will be rather true to the original form. Hosted by Mike Phillips from Van Huskins

Talks! Episode 90 - Indie Comics with Ryan Holgerson, Levi Erickson, & Jeff Williams

Talks! Episode 90 - Indie Comics with Ryan Holgerson, Levi Erickson, & Jeff Williams

This week I spoke with not only musicians, but musicians making indie comics! Ryan Holgerson of Slackmatic (and musically, The Modrats), along with returning guests, Levi Erickson (The Big) and Jeff Williams (Supernova Über Alles), sit down for a conversation that leans heavily towards making comics and the comics industry in general (both indie and major), but we do talk music too! This one runs a little longer, but it could have easily been another hour and a half if I hadn't stopped the recorder, plus I spared you thirty minutes of toy talk up front!

In this episode, I welcome back Christopher Bickel, director of the upcoming film, Pater Noster and the Mission of Light. We touch on his time in bands such as In/humanity and Guyana Punchline, but mostly stay focused on his still in progress DIY horror movie this time around. We also talk about how thrifting has changed, the importance of buying physical media, the joys and pains of crowdfunding, and one pretty amazing soundtrack!

OUTSTANDING podcast - great host, great music, great topics

The Charlotte region has an amazing wealth of fantastic music. Mike Phillips is a perfect host for bringing awareness to both what's currently coming out of the area as well as the great history here. His interviewing style is terrific, as good as anyone on even the most famous podcasts, and the production is top-notch. I recommend this podcast to anyone into local culture, indie music, punk, metal, or who wants to hear a well-made show with fascinating guests with awesome perspectives. Mike does both conversational shows (Gabba Gabba Huh Talks) and full music shows (Gabba Gabba Radio).
