Garden to Garden: Find the Right Kind of Willpower Living Hope

    • Christianity

Genesis 3:1-15

As humans we tend to have an attitude of “my will be done.” The devil’s oldest trick in the book was getting mankind to put their own will above God’s will. In the Garden of Eden, the devil made Adam and Eve believe that God was holding them back and didn’t have their best interests at heart. It was a lie, and now sin and death would have an icy grip on every human heart.

But God clearly does have our best interests at heart. He sends Jesus to undo the devil’s work and bring mankind back to him. And in a different Garden, Gethsemane, Jesus has the willpower to say to his Father, “your will be done.” And what is God’s will? His will is to save sinners like you and me.
