    Gigahoes Season Two! - Geekline415

    Gigahoes Season Two! - Geekline415

The Kickstarter campaign is officially underway for the hilarious comedy web series Gigahoes Season 2!  This “documentary” has been a benchmark favorite on Geekline415.  Futhermore the crew had a chance to sit down with writer, director and co-creator of the show Kevin Gilligan!  As a result everyone got a chance to talk about those submissive and or “bottom” characters from TV and Movies.

For those that may not yet be familiar with Gigahoes, this web series is a fun look at the possible future of dating.  As described on their website: “Gigahoes is a mockumentary web series about the escort agency, Artificial Intercourse, as they try to deal with the changing business landscape as new, better, and cheaper sex-bots are released. Each episode follows A.I.’s sex-bots out on their calls with their eccentric clients and the sexual hilarity that ensues.”

While the series is definitely R-rated it is not any further than that and is extremely funny.  There are references to so many things we had to scramble to our urban dictionaries to look a few things up!  Season One follows Steven, a small business owner struggling to survive in the for profit world of set-bots and the small dysfunctional family that has grown up around him.

What can we expect our of Season 2 of Gigahoes??

Season 2 of Gigahoes promises us more odd fetishes we may or may not have heard of.  Most of all we’ll get some outlandish scenes like we saw in season one.  As a result of season one ending on a cliffhanger we are anxious to know what will happen.

Finally, you can find Gigahoes and catch up with all you missed from Season One on YouTube or you can check out their Kickstarter at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1778214879/gigahoes-season-2

In addition, you can follow Kevin Gilligan on Twitter at: @Gilligan_McJew

    * Full disclosure:  Geekline415 is in fact a backer of Gigahoes Season Two.  We back what we believe in.

Matt Willig, Paul Logan and Costas Mandylor talk the Horde - Geekline415

Matt Willig, Paul Logan and Costas Mandylor talk the Horde - Geekline415

It’s our 100th episode!  And what a better way to celebrate then with 3 of the coolest actors on the scene today and all of us talking about that moment when a character in a movie knows he f-ed with the wrong person and the Horde Movie 2016 is full of just those kinds of moments.

Matt Willig former professional football player and Superbowl winner turned actor, seen in the new movie Concussion and many other great films including this one.  Paul Logan, the writer, co-producer, actor and soon to be big budget action star along with the guy who waxes poetic with the even keel of a pure psychotic, actor Costas Mandylor all join us for a very raucous night.

These guys came at us and each other hard, with no mercy, and while we probably haven’t met our match, they gave it right back and some great conversation ensued.  These are 3 real guys who had a great time making a movie together and really wanted to share that joy and excitement with you.

Who is this soon to be super star Paul Logan in the Horde movie 2016?

Paul is a terrific guy.  As a former stuntman and serious martial artist, Paul brings a blend of realism to the screen we haven’t see since the old days.  He’s not afraid to get dirty in front of the camera and risk life and limb to get the shot.  With a work ethic second to none, we see Paul Logan going far.  He is in great physical shape for the Horde and can compete with an John Cena types that might be out there.  Paul brings a blend of nice, honest dude mixed with his martial arts background for a dash of bad-ass.

Surrounded by his cast of friends Matt Willig and Costas Mandylor, the Horde turns out to be a fun indie flick that you can watch.  As Paul puts it, it’s Rambo meets the Hills Have Eyes.

Matt Willig turns in yet another solid performance as Stone, but more over, what a great individual Matt turned out to be.  When you spend a good part of your adult life in an NFL locker room you can clearly handle yourself.  Matt falls right in to the conversation dropping bombs and hitting back just like we would expect.  It was a pleasure to hear Matt’s insights around acting, the movie, and his work.

And then there was Costas Mandylor, the philosopher, the gentleman, and the man that we all listened to whenever he had anything to say.  An eerie silence seemed to decend over San Francisco when Costas started speaking.  He shared his years in the biz with some great tales and lessons for budding actors, writers and directors.  Costas has seen it and done it, and we can’t wait to see more of his work.

Paul is working on a few new things and we can’t wait to see what he pulls out of his bag!

You can find Paul on Twitter @RealPaulLogan or at paullogan.net

You can find The Horde on your favorite VOD experience such as Amazon or their official website of The Horde movie 2016 at: http://www.thehordemovie.com/

Please see my rating system below. I am not a producer, promoter, or in any way financially attached to The Horde Movie 2016 film (other than I paid to buy it)

Sit down and get ready for a mix of Rambo meets Friday the 13th meets The Hills Have Eyes! The Horde Movie 2016 is a dive in to a world of drug runners, hill folk, and a photography class outing that all come colliding together for an action/horror flick that gave me a...

Zack Ward talks Restoration - Geekline415

Zack Ward talks Restoration - Geekline415

Ever since we first saw McFly punch out Biff in Back to the Future we really have looked forward to characters in film, tv, comics and all kinds of stories getting exactly what is coming to them.  Who better to have this kind of discussion with than Zack Ward?  He’s been in movies such as Transformers, Resident Evil, and a famous role where his character gets his own just comeuppance in A Christmas Story when Ralphie knocks the hell out of Zack Ward ‘s character Scut Farkus.

Zack Ward is an unapologetic, absolutely tell it like it is kind of guy.  He is brutally honest, and a straight out geek-man if one ever existed.  Zack fits in with the brotherly brutality that is the Geekline415 crew perfectly.   He doesn’t mix his words and is the kind of guy you just want to keep buying shots for.  Zack Ward is a bit of a rare breed in Hollywood.  A guy who will actually tell you your movie is “No bueno” but then bend over backwards to help you make the next one better.

We were able to talk with Zack about some of the times he remembers in comics and movies a character who reaps what he sows including another one of his characters in the movie Don’t Blink (another must see in our opinion).

What is this new Zack Ward movie Restoration?

Restoration, Zack Ward ‘s new flick, is one of those indie movies we love.  It’s not trying to be fake artsy and it’s just telling a simple, classic type horror/suspense story that gives you a thrill along the way.

Restoration, which Zack writes, co-produces, and directs, is one of those movies that just about everyone gets exactly what is coming to them.  A tale of just comeuppance as far as we’re concerned.  Don’t all people this good looking really deserve that bitter sweet just desert?

Restoration is in theaters May 3rd, with releases on your favorite VoD platform soon-after and available on DVD on Amazon August 16th.

You can follow Zack Ward on Twitter: @TotalZackWard

**** Here is a copy of DM’s review as posted on IMDB and Amazon ****

As one of the first reviewers, I think it is incumbent upon me to mention I am not in any way connected to the movie. This review is completely independent. I am not in the movie industry or anything of the sort. I was lucky enough to see the movie as it was suggested to me among a long list of titles, and I am very glad I did.

Zack Ward, who you may recognize from Transformers, Resident Evil or A Christmas Story, takes his first shot at directing in this film. Along with his cohort and horror genera regular James Cullen Bressack, Zack Ward produces and takes on a major role in the film. Ward does a superb job figuring out a balance of what is needed to make a good movie on a budget. He doesn’t over-do-it with cheap thrills, gallons of corn syrup blood, or anything of the sort. He allows the story to take shape naturally without forcing us immediately to conclusions.

Our story follows Todd Jordon, played by a surprise sleeper hit, Adrian Gaeta and his wife, Rebecca played by the ever talented Emily Roya O’Brien. The couple moves in to a new house and is greeted by two friendly neighbors, Harold (Zack Ward) and Francine (Sarah Ann Schultz).

Blood Rush AKA Flipped with Harris Demel - Geekline415

Blood Rush AKA Flipped with Harris Demel - Geekline415

Have you ever seen one of those movies where the characters find themselves in a totally messed up situation?  Well Blood Rush A.K.A. Flipped, is one of those movies!  The geeks had the chance to talk to writer and director Harris Demel about his new movie and some of those situations throughout entertainment that our beloved characters discover are just a complete disaster.

Not to be confused with a plot twist, Blood Rush puts the main characters into the bad situation immediately and it just deteriorates.  The whole movie is just one bad situation.  Characters have often, in film, tv, comics etc, had to fight their way out tough spots, but what if all you could do is hang there…. upside down???  Yeah, that is completely F-ed.

    Blood Rush A.K.A. Flipped?

We noticed the same thing.  Is the movie called Flipped or is it called Blood Rush?  What gives?  Well the geeks asked Harris and we found out at the last second the distributors wanted to change the name.  Distribution is king (we know!) so it made sense for the movie to have a more visceral title.  That and there are probably 84 other films named Flipped, it was probably a good idea.

You can find out more about Blood Rush at IMDB and you can watch it on your favorite VOD platform such as Amazon and more!

Check out the official trailer here:

Here is a copy of DMs review for Blood Rush as posted on IMDB and Amazon:

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

Please read below on how I rate my movies so you can get a sense of what to expect.

What would you do if your world had been quite literally Flipped upside-down? Our story starts with Scotty Dee (Think Justin Bieber type played by Evan Taubenfeld) and “Model” Nicole Diamond. They are at a restaurant, they seem like the perfect celebrity couple, and then BAM! car into a ditch. Life goes from perfect to f-ed in an instant.

Our main character, who incidentally was actually suspended upside-down for the shooting of this film, Nicole Diamond played by the beautiful Stella Maeve, finds herself pinned under the dashboard unable to move. Phone smashed, and that god awful in-car Siri/Sync system not working (command not recognized!), Nicole finds herself unable to call for help. Her 1987 Black Berry has only a few buttons that work and she is forced to start dialing random numbers. When she finally gets hold of some one, the voice on the other end is that of a self-described nice guy who is ready to “help”.

The voice on the phone, voice-over by Mr Blonde himself, Michael Madsen, talks Nicole through this tough time. He let’s her know help is on the way, and decides to fill the time with her by talking through her relationship issues with Scotty Dee, who is conveniently also hanging upside down in the seat next to her.

This movie is really about relationships. It is about celebrity, the price of such, as well as what happens when we actually bother to take our world and flip it on its head. We are sometimes forced to confront our own shortcomings as well as those of our partners. We come out the other side either with an intact, stronger relationship OR a house-cleaning and moving on our way.

Madsen is absolutely superb. That gravely voice and his ability to play a seemingly sincere, yet disturbed individual comes out well over the phone.

Stella Maeve does an equally admirable job playing the shallow model, consumed by her own celebrity that is mostly in her own mind. The change in facial expressions she pulls off is subtle, but excellent. As she gets more and more understanding of her situation, no only being pinned in a car,

Howard Scott Warshaw and pivotal moments in tech - Geekline415

Howard Scott Warshaw and pivotal moments in tech - Geekline415

We recently had the distinct honor and pleasure to talk to Howard Scott Warshaw, the Atari MVP credited with making 3 out of the top 10 selling Atari 2600 games of all time. Mr. Warshaw joined us to talk “pivotal moments” in tech. Having seen the tech revolution from the inside, through the decades, we could not have thought of anyone better that Howard.

Ok, so who IS Howard Scott Warshaw?

Howard Scott Warshaw is the man who quite literally saved the video game industry as we know it.  D.I.C.E., do we have your attention?

If you are not a gamer you might not know who Howard Scott Warshaw is. Now, known as “The Silicon Valley Therapist”, Mr. Warshaw has the more dubious distinction of being known as the man who wrote the worst video game of all time, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial for the Atari 2600 game console.  E.T. has subsequently been blamed for bringing down the entire home video game console market in 1983. Suffice it to say, many of the people who might think E.T. is the worst video game of all time have never played it, or have never heard of the game Commie Bob.

Howard is an unapologetic, force majeure that is unequivocally one the best programmers of that early console era.   Howard’s first game, Yars’ Revenge is one of the top selling Atari 2600 games of all time and often considered one of the best ever in terms of game play. It was a revolution of art, game play, and even included a comic book that brought a backstory to a game for the first time in Atari’s history.  It also happens to be the first time Atari ever gave a programmer direct credit for making a game.  In fact, Howard never made a game for Atari that didn’t sell over a million copies, including E.T.  There may not be another programmer in any console generation that can lay stake to that claim.

We had a chance to talk with Howard about those times at Atari, leading up to the infamous E.T. a game that was made in 5 weeks, and stands as a testament to Howard’s ability: It actually works. While Howard admits to us the game is not perfect, yes, sometimes it does put the Joe Dirt in the hole, we are not sure what could be expected in 5 weeks.  The complaints about E.T. are thoroughly over blown, and even as young kids none of us found the game that bad.

The result of Howard Scott Warshaw being able to create a working, fairly decent game for a console in just 5 weeks is what actually saved the industry from becoming a passing fad and dismissed entirely. Had the game been assigned to anyone else, or had enough time been allotted to develop the game properly, the industry still would have crashed, but without the focal point needed for an industry to begin to recover from.

Howard proved that the console had reached its limit. One of the most talented programmers of the 2600-generation proved that the sophistication of programming techniques and lack of expandability had pushed the hardware to obsolescence. The inability of Atari executives to recognize a product life cycle (Moore’s Law, hello?), the constant cloning of games (similar to what happened with Pong in 1977), lead to the crash in 1983, and Howard Scott Warshaw proved why.

This exact why is what lead us out of the crash.  Understanding that the hardware could no longer support what gamers expected.  Understanding that some kind of quality control needed to be kept lead us to the Nintendo’s Seal of Approval some years later.  We can thank Howard Scott Warshaw for keeping the revolution alive and flowing.

Howard has stayed extremely relevant and up to date, not fading out for a life in psychotherapy, but instead remaining grounded in tech to help his patients to the best of his ability.

Alienated with Brain Ackley - Geekline415

Alienated with Brain Ackley - Geekline415

Tonight the geeks were joined by writer and director Brian Ackley to discuss his new movie, Alienated. We’ve all had those relationships in life that were just toxic so almost anyone can relate to this film. The on screen portrayal that many immediately think of course is Fatal Attraction. The acrid relationship in that movie can best be summed up by Glen Close’s infamous line “I’m not going to be ignored,Dan.”

Brian gives us a look in to his new movie, Alienated, and the toxic relationship brewing within. Billed as a drama/thriller, Alienated really delivered a hear-wrenching look into a relationship that is going bad.  The cast of George Katt, Jen Burry, and Taylor Negron, leave us with a sense that there is more to come from the movie but it never gets there.  This is just how things are in life, much like the geeks just didn’t have enough time to explore all the deep facets of the movie in just an hour!

Alienated has won many awards, not the least of which is Best Ensemble Cast at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival awards.

Was Alienated Taylor Negron’s last movie?

Alienated ended up to be the movie the immortal Taylor Negron would do before succumbing to liver cancer.  Taylor delivers a flawless performance as one would expect.  Brian talks with the geeks about what it was like to work with Taylor and even discusses the final scene they worked on together which would end up to be Taylor’s last on the big screen.

More than once in the movie you hear that calm, quiet, Taylor Negron voice in the movie as almost prophetic in its wisdom, guiding our main character Nate in the right direction.  Taylor left us with a great final performance, and Brain reminisces what it was like to work with him in those final days.

You can watch the trailer for Alienated here:
