There may not be a second season of WandaVision, but a spin-off may be the next best thing. Variety reports that a series based on WandaVision’s main villain Agatha Harkness is in the works. Other rumors point to the series being set up by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

    9:10 – Hawkeye Disney+ Trailer

Hawkeye is the next Marvel MCU Phase Four series and we FINALLY have a trailer! Not only does it look to draw from Clint’s time as Ronin, but it looks like a Christmas series. At least in the way Die Hard is a Christmas movie…

    15:45 – Muppets Haunted Mansion

Disney+ debuted Muppets Haunted Mansion, a Halloween special based on the famous Disneyland Hunted Mansion ride. Since Seth and Train are both huge Muppets fans, and Train especially is a fan of the Haunted Mansion ride, it was a natural fit for them to review it.

    The Addams Family (1964-1966)

    The Addams Family (1964-1966)

Halloween month is here so it is once again time for our annual Halloween sampler. Last year we spotlighted The Munsters. This year, we look at the other mid-60s monster family sitcom, The Addams Family, which ran on ABC for two seasons from 1964-1966.

2:30 – Charles Addams comic strips

The basis for the TV show was a series of comic strip panels created and drawn by Charles Addams. Contrary to popular belief, the strip was not called The Addams Family, nor were any of the characters even named. Not only that, the vast majority of Addam’s cartoons didn’t even have the characters in them.

    5:30 – TV Show

While there have been many versions in various media over the years, the classic TV show is probably still the most identifiable one. It ran on ABC from 1964 to 1966, the same years as CBS’s sitcom The Munsters. In fact, The Munsters was created in response to The Addams Family.

One thing the two families have in common is they are both loving families who always try to be friendly with others. likewise, they seem oblivious as to why people react with fear or confusion around them. However, unlike the Munster family, the Addams aren’t monsters. They are a family that happens to have bizarre tastes and an appreciation for dark macabre things.

Television producer David Levy approached Addams about adapting some of his creations into a TV show. Addams was given the freedom of naming the characters and fleshing out their personalities. While he was not credited with writing particular episodes, he was very involved with the creative process. Including many of the gags and quirky scenes that the show became famous for.

    13:30 – The Characters

Morticia Addams (Carolyn Jones) – The mother in the family and arguably the most recognizable character of the show. Much like the similar but unrelated character Vampira, Morticia has jet black hair and wears a black dress. Her maiden name is Frump

Gomez Addams (John Astin) – Gomez is Morticia’s husband and the father of their children. He often wears pin-striped suits and smokes cigars. One of Gomez’s favorite hobbies is building model train sets simply so he can blow them up with dynamite.

Pugsley Addams (Ken Weatherwax) – The elder of the two children who occasionally engage in secular activities. These activities would seem normal to the average person, so naturally, the family gets concerned whenever this happens.

Wednesday Addams (Lisa Loring) – The younger of the two children. Wednesday is good-hearted, despite her interest in things like spiders and reptiles. She often plays a much bigger role in future incarnations.

Lurch (Ted Cassidy) – Lurch is the giant but faithful butler. He usually speaks in phrases or short sentences. Cassidy’s 6’9″ frame made it easy to believe that Lurch had superhuman strength.

Thing (Ted Cassidy) – Cassidy often did double duty as Thing, a disembodied hand that somehow is still sentient. Thing often brings the mail in from the household mailbox, and can somehow instantly appear in different areas of the house within seconds.

Uncle Fester (Jackie Coogan) – Fester is eccentric even by the family’s standards. He is usually energetic and happy. He also enjoys explosives much the way Gomez does.

Grandmama (Blossom Rock) – The quirky mother of Gomez who has a collection of various knives and axes. She also practices witchcraft and potion-making.

    36:25 – Theme Song

It’s one of the most identifiable theme songs in TV history. The iconic music was written and performed by Vic Mizzy, who made several other theme songs throughout his career. Among his famous compositions include the Green Acres theme. Train calls him the Mike Post of the 1960s.

The main instrument used in the melody is a harpsichord,

    * The Book of Boba Fett (8 Episodes – December)* Andor (12 Episodes)* Bad Batch Season 2 (16 Episodes)* Obi-Wan Kenobi (6 Episodes)* The Mandalorian Season 3 (8 Episodes)

    10:15 – Spider-Man Trailer

A lot of questions were raised in the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. Is this the same Doctor Strange? Could the next Sinister Six villains be from other universes? And why the heck is the Sanctum Sanctorium snowing indoors?

    17:30 – Midnight Suns Trailer

    22:30 – “What If…?” through Episode 4

Marvel’s “What If…?” has already had vastly different feeling episodes. Captain Carter, which kept the swashbuckling feel of Captain America: The First Avenger. Similarly, the episode that depicted T’Challa in space kept the humor of Guardians of the Galaxy. But the next two were VERY dark and bleak.

BREAK – Examining The Doctor looks at Genesis of the Daleks!

    31:00 – Who is Shang-Chi?

The feature segment of the show is devoted to explaining the character of Shang-Chi and his creation in the early 70s. Like Luke Cage and Iron Fist, Shang-Chi was inspired by exploitation movies. Specifically the “chopsocky” genre of martial arts films. Marvel wanted to make comics based on the David Carradine TV show Kung-Fu. When that failed, they made Shang-Chi the son of Fu Manchu (yes THAT Fu Manchu).

When Marvel lost the rights to Fu Manchu, they retconned Shang Chi to be the son of a new character called Zheng Zu.

Another villain, The Mandarin, had been a villain in the pages of Iron Man for several years. In fact, he could be considered the biggest villain in the Iron Man rogues gallery. The Mandarin utilized the power of the ten magical rings

For the MCU, Marvel amalgamized Zheng Zu with another Asian villain The Mandarin. This new character is called Wenwu has the ten rings like The Mandarin but is also Shang-Chi’s father.

Seth and Train close the show by giving a spoiler-filled review of the MCU’s latest entry Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

9:00 – Agents Of SHIELD Cast in Secret Invasion?

Chloe Bennet had to back out of The Powerpuff Girls reboot for CW. Then Elizabeth Henstridge shared an Instagram about traveling to England. As luck would have it, both of those actions fall in line with Marvel’s Secret Invasion beginning production for Disney+. Since Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will be front and center, it makes sense that SHIELD agents would be backing him up. However, this is ONLY a rumor, and nothing has been confirmed

15:00 – The Suicide Squad Review

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad seems to have disappointed at the box office, but it did not fail to entertain. For what it’s worth, Warner Bros. movies will go back to be theater exclusive in 2022. For comparison’s sake, Train puts media consumption in the 1980s against media consumption of today. VCRs anybody?

Train brings his knowledge of DC to the table in this review. Where’s Ratcatcher from? Where’s Corto Maltese? And did DC heavy hitters actually fight a giant starfish?

    45:45 – “What If…?” Review

Marvel’s latest (and first animated) entry into The MCU is “What If…?”. As expected, each episode is a standalone alternate story based on a previous MCU movie. The debut episode depicted Peggy Carter taking the super-soldier serum when Steve Rogers is wounded.

A bunch of news to talk about today!

    1:25 – ScarJo vs. DISNEY

Scarlett Johansson has sued Disney over breach of contract for Black Widow. The lawsuit states “Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel.”

Disney responded, stating “There is no merit whatsoever to this filing. The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20m she has received to date.”

The National Association of Theatre Owners issued a statement blaming the streaming release on the film’s disappointing box-office performance.

Marvel’s November MCU release, The Eternals, will not be getting a streaming release.

    12:30 – HAWKEYE

Marvel has revealed the premiere date for Hawkeye, the next MCU series for Disney+. The Jonathan Igla (Mad Men) run series is set to debut Wednesday, Nov 24th. Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Florence Pugh returns as Yelena Bolova. The series also sees Hailee Steinfeld playing Hawkeye’s protege Kate Bishop, Tony Dalton suiting up as Swordsman, and Alaqua Cox portraying the deaf hero Echo. Episodes will be directed by Rhys Thomas along with Bert and Bertie.

    21:45 – FLASH GORDON

Taika Waititi will be helming the big screen return of Flash Gordon. While it was originally set to be an animated film, it has been changed to a live-action feature. Waititi allegedly had his staff watch the 1980 film before they started work on Thor: Love and Thunder.

The season finale of Superman & Lois is set to air on August 17th. The penultimate episode, “Eradicator”, will air on the 10th.

The final two episodes will air on the 10th and 17th, Eradicator and Last Sons of Krypton. Tyler Hoechlin hopes to play Superman for a long time.

The James Gunn helmed DCEU feature currently sits at 96% at Rotten Tomatoes. This makes it DC’s best-reviewed film to date. For comparison
