Genesis Creation - Is there only one interpretation‪?‬ Slaves Of Righteousness

Is young earth creationism a mandatory belief? We both grew up in a context where the young earth view of creation was a prominent (and nearly mandatory) view, and we want to introduce other perspectives to the viewer.
