124: Coffee: Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic and Germany Coffee Explorations with Travis Dow of Podcastnik Productions

Travis lived in Germany and the Czech Republic for 20 years and podcasts about history on podcastnik.com. After talking about alchemy and witches as a ghost-tour guide in Prague, he teamed up with Pete Collman to figure out podcasting as a medium to tell stories from history. Travis has a long and complicatedly long adoration with coffee that started in his childhood upbringing in Germany. Now, he now lives in Oregon, where he partakes in specialty and 7-11 coffee.

    Podcast Blackout

    Podcast Blackout

In support of what's happening in the United States at this moment this is a podcast blackout episode. To find other podcast blackout episodes, follow the #podcastblackout hashtag on Twitter. Thank you to the folks of the Cult 45 Podcast, https://twitter.com/cult45podcast, who started this podcast blackout episode act. The reason many Podcasters are replacing regular podcast episodes with this type of episode is to recognize the lives of black men and women killed by the police since Eric Garner's death in 2014. This is a reading of their names.

She writes about books, bookstores and cultural identity on Instagram under the handle  Book Nerd Tokyo. 122: Are you sick of American podcasts? Discover the Asian Podcasting Scene with Norman Chella of PodLovers Asia Podcast

Time and time again I hear my global friends complain that it's hard to find podcasts that are NOT from the U.S. As an American Podcaster (an Expat Podcaster, but still) this is always a sticky conversation for me because I listen to a mix of podcasts from and about many countries. Part of why the Global Podcasters episodes on Geopats started was because of my desire to share these global Podcasters and podcasting experiences with you. It sounds like Norman Chella has a similar goal as mine but with the Asian scene as his more specific focus.

Different, honest, refreshing

Steph does a fantastic job of engaging her guests in open, honest conversations about expat life and what it all means to live in different places around the world. The episodes are long, which I enjoy as they allow for conversation to unfold naturally; there's no rigid interview structure here or abrupt cutoff times. Great pod if you're an expat yourself, or if you're just curious to learn more about how others interact with their virtual (and real life!) environments based on where they've taken themselves.
