Don’t Recreate the Wheel with Beth Sears

Don’t Recreate the Wheel with Beth Sears

Pura vida! This new episode goes live while I’m leading the WOMEN WHO DARE retreat in Costa Rica. I’m here with several inspiring clients, including Beth Sears who is our guest today.
Beth was brought up with very traditional beliefs about business and how her life “should” be. She was expected to have a high-powered career, be the perfect wife and mother, and she started on that path by going to law school. After having her first child, she decided that being a lawyer was not the right path for her, and she instead took on the “Martha Stewart role” of her home. Keeping the perfect home and filling so many roles became unsustainable. In Beth’s quest to be perfect, she was still not fulfilled.
Beth is now a certified holistic health coach who draws on her wisdom of yoga and Reiki to help women who are in the menopausal phase in their lives to harness this natural process and feel strong in their mind, body and spirit.
Beth led a Reiki Circle here in Costa Rica and it was pure magic! Excited for you to tune in to this conversation.
    Tune in to discover:
How Beth was able to move past the pressures of what her life should look like The power of changing directions The lessons she learned from the death of her mother and mother-in-law Why going sober was the best decision for her The keys to feeling stronger
    About Our Guest:
Beth Sears a certified holistic health coach trained by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She’s a yoga teacher (RYT-200) and an NASM-personal trainer, and has been personally trained by Gabby Bernstein of Spirit Junkie fame to teach the principles of her book May Cause Miracles.
Beth is passionate about living a healthy, balanced life full of joy and sharing her sometimes messy, but always real, journey through life. Her passion is empowering women to lead big, bold lives without apology and helping them find adventure in every day while thriving in their power and gifts.

Changing the Cancer Journey with Andrea Wilson Woods

Changing the Cancer Journey with Andrea Wilson Woods

Before the year ends, I’m excited to share one more podcast episode with you that will touch your heart.
Andrea Wilson Woods and I met several years ago when she joined my coach training school. I could tell she had what it took to be an incredible coach. And I was impressed by her skills and background she brought to her work - writing, teaching and acting. She got to work coaching her clients and building her business.
I soon learned that like me, Andrea had also lost her younger sister to cancer. And she has truly turned that loss into something extraordinary that’s changing lives.
Andrea has a passion for advocating for liver cancer, which stemmed from her sister Adrienne’s diagnosis and fight with liver cancer as a child. She uses her knowledge and experience to run Blue Faery: The Adrienne Wilson Liver Cancer Association, and her for-profit foundation, Cancer University.
Andrea wants to change the cancer paradigm in the United States and she believes to ignite change you have to go to the source: the patient. She wants to teach cancer patients and caregivers how to become advocates for themselves so they can change their cancer journey.
    Tune in to discover:
Her journey of figuring out what work she was called to do (and why she couldn’t work for other people) How she developed her coaching business and decided who she was uniquely designed to coach Where the idea of Cancer University came from and how she got if off the ground How she knows she’s on the right path The amazing story of how she became legal guardian of her 8-year-old sister when she was 22 Why literary agents said her book was amazing but it wouldn’t sell The story behind the name of her book “Better Off Bald” About Our Guest:
Andrea Wilson Woods is a writer who loves to tell stories, and a patient advocate who founded the nonprofit Blue Faery: The Adrienne Wilson Liver Cancer Association. Andrea is the CEO and co-founder of Cancer University, a for-profit, social-benefit, digital health company. With Cancer U, Andrea synergizes her talents of coaching, writing, teaching, and advocacy. For over ten years, Andrea worked in the education field as a teacher and professor for public and private schools as well as universities. Andrea obtained her master’s degree in professional writing from the University of Southern California; her nonfiction writing has won national awards.

It's Not About You with Faith Marshall

It's Not About You with Faith Marshall

Cue the confetti: GET GUTSY is 4 years old today! Let’s celebrate this wild ride together … full of twists, turns and pivots.
Faith Marshall knows all about the art of the pivot. When she wanted more flexibility in her work schedule as a parent, she started a janitorial business. She pivoted from there when she launched a bookkeeping business.
After walking through her mother’s journey of Alzheimer’s and Dementia, she was again guided to make another pivot to serve families navigating this tricky, emotional road. Faith’s book “I Miss You Mom: A Daughter’s Journey Into Dementia Land” and speaking engagements (note: she used to have a fear of public speaking!) at memory care centers allow her to serve the specific community she seeks to help at this stage in her career.
Pivots equal power when you trust the call to make change.
    Tune in to discover:
How going through emotional pain shows you where there is a need for something that doesn’t yet exist - and how to fill that gap How becoming a coach opened up the next level of her business Why it’s important to connect and support each other to not feel so alone Have a fear of public speaking? How to get over it and leverage in-person connection to grow your community About Our Guest:
Faith Marshall is an author, professional business woman and entrepreneur at heart. As life is often unpredictable, Faith found herself faced with her mother’s Dementia diagnosis, which ultimately pushed her to face both denial and fear head on.
While writing and publishing her personal story, “I Miss You Mom: A Daughter’s Journey Into Dementia Land” Faith felt compelled to make a drastic change in her life. As she embarked on a journey that would ultimately lead her to her true purpose, Faith knew she had to challenge herself and also support the Alzheimer’s and Dementia community. She currently works directly in support of the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Community providing private coaching, group support and resources to families.

Samhaintha ,

This podcast will lift you up!

I love listening to Jenny talk about her business, and her family life, and how she juggles everything together! It's hard to be a working mom, and it's often harder to be an entrepreneurial mom, because you don't always have co-workers to talk to, vent to, and have comraderie with. I can always count on an episode of Get Gutsy to lift me up when I've had a tough day. The episode times vary, and that makes it perfect to download a few for my commute. I often listen again to a special episode because I do NOT want to miss ANY of those tidbits of inspiration! Jenny Fenig has lots of inspiring messages for everyone, not just coaches and entrepreneaurs. Give it a listen and find out for yourself. This podcast is a wise investment of your time!
