The world of leadership is rife with information, listicles and re-hashed advice. We all know that we need to have more difficult conversations, be kinder and more empathetic with those we lead, and walk the path of servant leadership.
And yet we rarely seem to get any closer to developing ourselves as the leaders we wish to be. Instead, we clutter our brains with more information, enact a new promise to ourselves and those around us to lean in and show up more powerfully than we did last time, and somehow remain running around in circles.
There’s no shortage of advice available to create incremental change, and they provide exactly that: create incremental change. You get better at doing what you already do, but slightly faster and slightly better. Boring.
This podcast will NOT provide you with incremental change. It will expose your hidden genius, unlock a new level of mastery in yourself, and, provide you paths to creating exponential power and growth.
Ep 209: How to Have Difficult Conversations
Many people have this belief that difficult conversations become less challenging given you can figure out how to do them the right way. What many do not realise however is that when it comes to difficult conversations, the real challenges are creating a degree of intimacy and avoiding the tendency to control the outcome. In today’s show, we’ll examine why having difficult conversations matter to you as a leader, how the right training can help you carry out these conversations, and how working with powerful coaches can help make the process easier for you, among many others. You’re going to see having difficult conversations from a totally different perspective after this so don’t forget to tune in!
Ep 208: What Will You Have to Give Up?
This might come as a surprise to many but pursuing a leadership that truly transforms will entail more than just giving up the negative tendencies, strategies, etc. that are getting in the way of your leadership. The truth is transformational leadership will also require giving up your sacred cows—the things and attributes that you hold dear and consider indispensable in your leadership. Why is continuous pruning of the things you hold dear important? How can your sacred cows hinder you from achieving the next edge in your leadership? I’ll discuss the answers to those questions in detail and share other beneficial insights in this episode so don’t forget to tune in!
Ep 207: Power is a Function of the Amount of Love You Can Bring
Contrary to what many people believe, powerful leaderships do not rely on love or power alone. If truth be told, your ability to bring the two together—love and rigour—is the key to a truly powerful leadership. But how do you go about bringing the two together? What happens if you only exercise one and neglect the other? I’ll tackle the answers to those questions and more in this episode so don’t forget to join me!
Ep 206: You Don't Know — And it Doesn't Matter
In this episode, I talked about the brilliance of not knowing. While leaders are typically expected to have everything sorted out, in a leadership that truly transforms such is not the case. Why? If you are the kind of leader who waits until you know all the answers before making a decision, you are not only hindering yourself from moving forward, you are also robbing yourself of the opportunity to grow as a leader and as an individual. So why is it important to operate from a place of not knowing? Why is it part of the growing process? The answers to these and more in this episode!
Ep 205: You Are Your Culture
You are it!
No matter how hard you try to zoom in, magnify or look into your company’s culture, you’ll realize that understanding or defining what it is can be a problem. After all, your company’s culture cannot be seen through magnification – we can only see it through a broader scope. A bigger picture, if you will.
You see, company culture is an outer expression of your organization’s inner workings. It is embodied through beliefs, words, and actions. As such, you, as a whole, make up your company’s culture.
If you want to understand what your company’s culture is, you need to have a comprehensive assessment of yourself. No need to look at the nitty-gritty. A bigger picture is what you need.
Ep 204: Who Do You Think You Are
Who we think we are today is not who we actually are underneath the surface.
We were born with distinct characteristics of being. However, we don't often show them off to their best potential due to how we were raised when growing up. As transformative leaders, it is our role to fully express our innate qualities and not the identity we tend to relate ourselves to.
More of this can be explored in my book "Who Do You Think You Are," in which we’ll discover your genuine intrinsic qualities, how to completely express them without resistance, and how it will help you develop as a leader. Tune in and get the gist of what my upcoming book is all about and how it can be simply more than a book. Enjoy!
Helping me take my coaching to the next level
As a leadership coach I really love the midweek coaching live segments where Adam coaches someone and then we get to be a fly on the wall. I learn so much! I also like his leadership point of view. I often share these episodes with my clients and then we work to apply topics of interest to them in their specific situations. Thank you Adam for your sharing your work!
Packed with wit and wisdom!
