Now, after serving close to three decades in prison, he is being released into house arrest due to his failing health.

ICYMI: The Hustle Used By Oligarchs And Transnational Criminals To Hide Their Money

ICYMI: The Hustle Used By Oligarchs And Transnational Criminals To Hide Their Money

Oligarchs and criminals often employ various tactics to hide money from governments within the financial system. Here's a summary of some common methods:
Offshore Accounts: They use offshore bank accounts in countries with lax regulations and banking secrecy laws. These accounts make it difficult for authorities to trace the money back to its original source.Shell Companies: Oligarchs and criminals set up shell companies, which are legal entities that exist only on paper and have no real business operations. They use these companies to obscure the ownership and movement of funds.Complex Ownership Structures: They establish complex ownership structures involving multiple layers of companies and trusts, making it challenging for investigators to unravel the true beneficiaries of the funds.Money Laundering: They engage in money laundering, which involves disguising the origins of illegally obtained money by moving it through a series of transactions or investments.Real Estate Investments: They invest in real estate, often using cash transactions or shell companies to purchase high-value properties. Real estate investments can be used to launder money and store wealth outside the traditional banking system.Cryptocurrencies: They use cryptocurrencies to transfer and store funds anonymously. While cryptocurrencies offer some level of privacy, they are also subject to increasing regulatory scrutiny.Trade-Based Money Laundering: They manipulate trade transactions by over- or under-invoicing goods or services to move money across borders without arousing suspicion. These methods, among others, allow oligarchs and criminals to evade taxes, hide the proceeds of illegal activities, and maintain control over their wealth while avoiding detection by authorities.

Wildly inaccurate

This guy says stuff for entertainment purposes only and has very minimal facts in his rants. It was mildly infuriating to listen to
