Should I Be Mad About This?

Should I Be Mad About This?

Chances are, your partner does things to annoy, frustrate, or even infuriate you, and we’re here to discuss them – everything from leaving wet towels on the floor to not posting you on social media to prioritizing his friends over you to well, breathing. We’re breaking down the question of “Should I be mad about this?” and offering advice for how to communicate your discontent and/or let some things bother you less. Before we tackle the topic, we’re sharing our hometown hookup stories, reminiscing on going to camp as kids, and sharing our thoughts (and a listener story) on the grapefruit b*****b technique. Enjoy!

What Their Money Style Says About Them as a Partner feat. Financial Journalist Nicole Lapin

It's another episode about moneeey, and this time, we are joined by financial journalist and best-selling author Nicole Lapin to chat about money and dating – what someone’s money style says about what kind of partner they’ll be, red flags to look for on a date, how to approach awkward conversations about finances, handling salary disparity with your partner when it comes to rent, vacations, etc., and more. Plus, we’re also tackling money issues with friends (like that one friend who never pays you back and why you shouldn’t go in debt for someone’s wedding). Before Nicole joins us, we are sharing our (and our listeners') wildest cheap date stories, debating another theory about breakup season, and chatting about how friendships change over time. Enjoy!

Out of Touch

While I think some of the recent reviews are tough (like c’mon the quiet quitting episode wasn’t THAT bad), I think the issue is that Rayna and Ashley have now become out of touch with their audience and it shows constantly throughout episodes. Ex: when they banter about vacations, their businesses, or their lifestyle, it gives major one-percenter energy. Another ex: this most recent episode on turning around a toxic relationship would have been really helpful for the audience had there been better prepared questions and on-topic conversations on how those of us in toxic relationships can possibly turn them around (with actual action items and advice) and/or when to know when it’s not going to change. Instead, we got convos about breast implants, touring, and managing social media businesses. None of that is relatable to anyone except the hosts and the guest. It’s like they need a “normal person” consultant to reign them in.

UPDATE: okay this most recent episode’s intro was literally 27 minutes of ads and talking about nothing. I keep hoping things will get better but they’re not. Gonna take a break from this pod.

Used to be one of my favorites but more than half the podcast is ads now. (Merch, shows, actual ads)
