Kara Loewentheil of ‘Unf— Your Brain’ — Glambition® Radio Episode 221 with Ali Brown

Kara Loewentheil of ‘Unf— Your Brain’ — Glambition® Radio Episode 221 with Ali Brown

Doctors, lawyers, and entrepreneurs, oh my! When it comes to being the smartest women in the room, this territory can also bring high levels of anxiety. Kara Loewentheil knew that firsthand from being a classic overachiever with degrees from both Yale and Harvard. But today, as a coach and host of ‘Unf--- Your Brain’, she teaches successful women how to rewire their thought patterns so they can continue to level-up and thrive.

On Glambition Radio, you’ll hear how Kara combines cognitive psychology-based techniques with insights from feminist theory, showing women to stop just thinking positive thoughts and instead adjust the WAY they think to create rapid change in their businesses, love lives, body image, personal relationships, and every other aspect of life. Kara’s ‘UFYB’ podcast has been downloaded 9 million times, and she has been featured in outlets like Marie Claire, Mind Body Green, MSN, and The Huffington Post. She lives in New York City.

On this episode of #GlambitionRadio, you’ll hear:

Why you won’t find Kara’s coaching style on any Pinterest inspiration boards, and ways her pragmatic approach to positivity is more doable (and effective) than you might expect

How Kara was the consummate overachiever with parental approval, but still couldn’t find fulfillment in her Ivy League-level academic and professional success

A simple—yet counterintuitive—mind hack that can expedite your success… and how $100 can make more impact than $1,000,000 (I loved this!)

Kara debunks the ‘fake it til you make it’ trap—and reveals why achievement alone won’t move the needle on your confidence meter

Terri Bryant, Founder of Guide Beauty — Glambition® Radio Episode 220 with Ali Brown

Terri Bryant, Founder of Guide Beauty — Glambition® Radio Episode 220 with Ali Brown

After a surprise medical diagnosis changed this luxury makeup artist’s career forever, she decided to create an adjacent business that would help others in the same position. And hence Terri Bryant created Guide Beauty— a new line of makeup tools for those with physical challenges.

For decades prior, connecting makeup concepts and their flawless application was Terri’s greatest joy and livelihood. A lifelong beauty enthusiast, she quickly rose through the ranks at iconic cosmetics brands including Dior, Chanel, Stila, Smashbox and others from NYC to LA.

But when over time she noticed she was losing ability in her hands and arms, she finally found the right doctor who diagnosed her with Parkinson’s disease.

Leveraging her decades of expertise, Terri combined her love of makeup artistry and education with the ‘unexpectedly beautiful gift’ of a challenging disease to launch Guide Beauty. This clean cosmetics formula + tool line is founded on universal design principles that allow for easier and better makeup application for those with physical challenges... AND those of us who like a bit more ‘fool proof-ness’ in our application. (Myself included!)

On this episode of #GlambitionRadio, you’ll hear:

Terri’s FIRST (and humorous) reaction when she received her Parkinson’s diagnosis — this also inspired her tools! (We had a laugh about this because we both love wearing the same fashion item.)

The depth of user-testing that went into creating Guide Beauty tools—and how Terri created a safe space for a ‘makeup-shy’ market to share their vulnerabilities

How Terri leaped into the ‘roadblocks’ of her diagnosis – and embraced the disconnection between her mind and hands to create this inclusive beauty line

Why beauty is not as superficial as some think — the value of beauty is unique to each individual. (You’ll hear both of us reminisce our early-womanhood beauty beginnings!)

Myoshia Boykin-Anderson, Tech Entrepreneur — Glambition® Radio Episode 219 with Ali Brown

Myoshia Boykin-Anderson, Tech Entrepreneur — Glambition® Radio Episode 219 with Ali Brown

The American Dream is still alive and well, my friends. In the beginning the cards were stacked against Myoshia Boykin-Anderson, and especially during her childhood years: a tough upbringing in Houston’s ‘Third Ward’, a drug-addicted mother, an education that capped at high school, and an early pregnancy soon after.

Today Myoshia is an award-winning entrepreneur who owns AndTech Solutions — a multiple 7-figure tech company — and has empowered her own family and others at the same time.

Her secret? She never stopped trying.

On #GlambitionRadio, you’ll hear how my client Myoshia’s determined, ‘get it done’ attitude helped her navigate and persevere through her career’s many evolutions… and it’s why I find her story so impressive.

Her business provides custom application development and other technology services to some of the top U.S. companies and organizations. They’ve implemented applications responsible for managing over 56 million users across 25 states, and also currently consult with small businesses in creating custom solutions to meet their technology challenges.

    On this episode, you’ll hear:

The 5 unforgettable words that inspired Myoshia to launch her first business… after MONTHS of dead-end sales calls!

How she initially found comfort and confidence in creating and controlling solutions to challenging technological problems (this is also how she fell in love with tech)

The precious commodity that her firm helps clients reclaim through custom systems (where can you create more of THIS resource for your business?)

Myoshia’s core belief system that sustained her through a challenging home life and professional curveballs

Her boss’s ‘audacious’ request on the last day at the office… and how she responded with grace!

I’ve been delighted to witness Myoshia really stepping into her leadership this year as a client and also a founding member of The Trust, my new network for 7- and 8-figure female business leaders.

Carolyn Rodz, Co-Founder + CEO of ‘Hello Alice’ — Glambition® Radio Episode 218 with Ali Brown

Carolyn Rodz, Co-Founder + CEO of ‘Hello Alice’ — Glambition® Radio Episode 218 with Ali Brown

Building a business can be the best education money can’t buy.  And on today’s Glambition Radio, my guest has turned her self-taught and network-sourced entrepreneurship skills into one of the most resourceful online hubs for female entrepreneurs seeking the next step in their business journey.

Carolyn Rodz is the co-founder + CEO of Alice, a free multi-channel platform powered by A.I. technology. On HelloAlice.com, business owners have access to funding, networks, services, and other business resources that help women navigate the practical and tactical steps of building a business, no matter where they are on the entrepreneurship ladder.

On #GlambitionRadio, you’ll also hear how Carolyn and her business partner Elizabeth Gore are taking powerful steps to shift entrepreneurship culture by advocating for women’s rights through Alice’s recent #MeToo Morality Clause. (This was fascinating! Consider this perspective if you’re seeking funding or building a board.)

Before founding Alice, Carolyn was a JP Morgan investment banker where she helped raise millions of dollars in capital for innovative organizations. She also created her own luxury retail line with products sold in Neiman Marcus, Harrods, and Bloomingdale’s, and ran a global marketing firm that supported Fortune 500 companies and startups.

    On this episode, you’ll hear:

The major lessons Carolyn learned through the closure of her first business—and the wisdom she discovered in her grieving process

The importance of maintaining a network while building a business—and how to recognize chance encounters that might aid your mission in the future

How to keep resourceful contacts in your orbit during early business stages—and ways to bring them ‘into the fold’ when you’re ready to scale

How Carolyn and Elizabeth have been coping with all their kids around over the last few months while building their company! (Maybe we should all create a homeschool co-op?)

Jennifer Allwood, Author of ‘Fear Is Not the Boss of You’ — Glambition® Radio Episode 217 with Ali Brown

When God closes a door, somewhere a window opens. And throughout her life, my Glambition Radio guest has harnessed her faith to transform a fair share of closed doors into the most beautifully decorated, Pinterest-famous (literally!) windows. And today, she’s teaching thousands of women how to embrace their talents and create opportunity through her faith-based online coaching.

Jennifer Allwood is an interior decorator-turned-online entrepreneur and women’s business mentor. Her brand-new book, ‘Fear Is Not the Boss of You’, is for ANY woman overwhelmed with indecision, fear, or feeling just plain stuck in business or life. On #GlambitionRadio, you’ll learn how Jennifer overcame her own success suppressors to build a booming coaching business that ‘motivates women to pursue their God-given, creative callings through bold action and no-nonsense Biblical truth.’

Jennifer launched her first interior decorating company in 2000 and discovered her knack for marketing + sales during a personal financial crisis. She quickly grew her business and today coaches nearly 3,000 clients per month. She’s been featured in Forbes, USA Today, DIY Network, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and many more.

    On this episode, you’ll hear:

How Jennifer straddles being a woman of faith AND an unabashed businesswoman (and why these are not mutually exclusive!)

Why women’s success today is shifting traditional ‘breadwinner’ dynamics… and tips to navigate these new pendulum swings in marriage

The three root issues keeping women small in business and life… and Jennifer’s essential tool for getting unstuck (Surprise! It’s NOT another business strategy…)

How to overcome fear-based emotions with wisdom and radical trust—because your feelings don’t always tell the truth!

Jennifer’s eye-opening consequence from having too much FUN during her freshman year of college! (I think we can all relate to this, even just a little… ;) )

I appreciated Jennifer’s radiant positivity during my last ICONIC event, and I know you’ll understand why during this interview!

TEAM issues. They are often the sticking place for many entrepreneurs as they venture into the 7+8 figures... and well beyond. There’s a ‘make or break’ point where we either get stuck where we are, or have the power to create a magically solid team that transports our business dreams into reality.

And today we have just the woman to help us. On this week’s Glambition Radio, Kris Plachy of ‘Lead Your Team’ breaks down team leadership and management into clear and actionable steps to help us get the most out of our teams—and raise our businesses to new levels of success with more clarity, efficiency, and camaraderie.

Kris is someone I consider the unequivocal team leadership and management expert for entrepreneurs like us. After 20+ years of leading, managing, and coaching leaders in corporate, she’s got a fantastic breadth and depth of wisdom around these issues, and breaks them down for us into immediate, simple solutions.

    On this episode, you’ll hear:

Why entrepreneurs like us shy away from ‘management’—and the critical reasons we MUST invest in this aspect of team leadership

The overarching importance of building structure beneath you—so you can apply your energy where it REALLY counts to grow your business

How to know when it’s time to ‘FIRE Myrtle’—and ways to help give her a graceful exit (And she’ll share how to know who your Myrtle is. You might be surprised…)

Kris’s Five Step Management System—and the two foundational starting points to build your powerhouse team

Her surprising college major that she still finds comes in handy at times! (You’ll never guess.)

I was honored Kris hired me earlier this year for a VIP Strategy Day to power up the next level of her business. I was so impressed with her that I hired her myself to help create new frameworks to power up my new team!

As a busy business owner and mom I don’t have a lot of free time, but I sure enjoy listening to this podcast in the car! The information is great for all but especially women. It feels lonely running a business, and this podcast is just the thing you need sometimes. It’s everything from the swift kick you need to move and take action, the tenderness and compassion needed in businesses, the wisdom and inspiration for launching the next big thing. Thank you Ali! 💕 IG @modern_motion
