83 | I Made Every Excuse Not to Go to Church: What Happened When I Let Go of Control and Trusted God

Have you ever felt God nudging you to invite someone to church... but fear stopped you? Are you worried they'll say no, think you're being weird, or that it will make your relationship uncomfortable? Or maybe you're the one who wants to come back to church, but every excuse keeps getting in the way? What if one simple invitation could change someone's life forever? Have you ever felt that little voice telling you, "Invite them," but immediately started making excuses? In this episode, Ash shares the story of the invitation that changed the entire direction of her life. After years of walking away from God and struggling with what she believed about Him, a simple conversation with another mom at swim lessons opened the door back to church. But when Sunday arrived, Ash found herself doing everything she could to avoid going. She had every excuse ready. She blamed social anxiety. She found reasons to stay home. But God had something waiting for her on the other side of that fear. You'll hear how one invitation led Ash and her family back into church, helped her rediscover faith in God, and eventually became the foundation for this ministry. This episode is also a reminder that inviting someone to church is not about having the perfect words or knowing every answer. It's about being willing to be the person God uses to plant a seed. Through Scripture, Ash explores what Jesus meant when He called us to make disciples, why we are all called to be the church, and how God can use ordinary moments with ordinary people to change someone's life forever. If you have ever felt afraid to invite someone to church, or if you've been searching for a way to grow closer to God, this episode is for you. 82 | Protect Your Peace: Find Peace With God When You're Stressed Out in Mom Life

Have you ever worked so hard to protect your peace, only to have one comment, one stressful day, or one person's opinion steal it away? Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted from trying to control everything around you just to feel okay? What if the peace you're searching for isn't something you have to create, protect, or fight for alone? You finally found a little peace... so why does it feel like everyone else can take it away? In this episode, Ash gets honest about the difference between the peace she used to fight for and the peace she found through God. For years, she believed protecting her peace meant controlling her environment, avoiding conflict, and holding everything together herself. But that kind of peace never lasted. Through one of the hardest seasons of her life, God showed her a different kind of peace: a peace that doesn't depend on circumstances, other people's opinions, or her ability to keep everything under control. Together, we explore what the Bible says about peace, the difference between peace with God and peace from God, and how Scripture reveals a peace that passes all understanding. You'll learn why you can ask God for peace, how to pray for peace when life feels overwhelming, and what it looks like to protect your peace by trusting the One who gives it. If you are a stressed out mom searching for peace in the middle of chaos, this episode will remind you that true peace was never something you had to manufacture. It was always something God wanted to give you. 81 | Is God Silent? How Stressed Out Moms Can Pray to Hear From God to Finally Feel Peace

Have you been praying every day but feel like no one is listening? Do you feel so stressed and overwhelmed that you're wondering how to hear from God when all you experience is silence? Are you desperate for peace and longing to grow closer to God, but don't know how to pray when He feels far away? EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS You pray every single day, and instead of hearing from God, all you get is silence. Have you started to wonder if He's even listening, or if He's really there at all? In this episode, Ash shares the season that nearly broke her faith while caring for her medically complex son. After countless prayers and what felt like endless silence, she realized that God's silence was never the same thing as His absence. You'll learn why prayer can feel one-sided during stressful seasons, what Scripture teaches about waiting on God, and how to stop focusing only on getting answers so you can begin recognizing God's presence instead. Ash also shares the simple prayer framework she now uses every time she prays, helping her grow closer to God, trust Him even when life doesn't make sense, and find peace in the middle of overwhelming circumstances. If you've ever wondered how to hear from God, struggled with unanswered prayer, or felt like your faith is slipping because God seems silent, this episode will encourage you to keep seeking Him. 80 | Stressed at Bedtime? Replace This Scary Prayer with a Peaceful One Instead

Do you feel stressed when your head hits the pillow because your mind won't stop replaying fears, worries, and "what ifs"? Did a prayer you learned as a child leave you feeling anxious about God instead of experiencing the peace from God Scripture talks about? Have you ever found yourself questioning God because the faith you grew up with felt more scary than comforting? What if the way you learned to pray wasn't actually leading you toward peace, but God has something better waiting for you? What if the bedtime prayer you have said for years was actually shaping the way you see God... In this episode of God, Really?, Ash shares the moment she stopped saying "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" with her own kids because she realized the words were creating fear instead of peace. Many of us grew up carrying fears we didn't even realize we had. Fear of doing something wrong. Fear of punishment. Fear of not being enough. Fear that God was waiting for us to fail. But when Ash opened Scripture and looked deeper, she discovered something completely different about the soul, prayer, and God's character. The Bible doesn't describe a God who wants us to live stressed and afraid. It describes a God who invites us into rest, hope, and peace from God. In this episode, you'll discover what Scripture says about where your soul finds rest, how fear can impact the way you pray, and how to replace old fears with a peace prayer rooted in God's goodness. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, questioning God, or struggling to find peace in your daily life, this episode will help you see God differently. In this episode, you'll learn: Why a familiar childhood prayer may have created fear instead of peace What the Bible says about your soul and where it finds rest How fear can shape the way you view God Why God wants you to experience peace instead of constant worry What Psalm 62 teaches about finding rest in God How to create a new prayer routine built on trust in God A simple peace prayer you can use before bed with your family Download the free bedtime prayer printable: https://www.ashdion.com/bedtimeprayer Take the free Faith Quiz to discover your next step with God: https://ashdion.com/quiz Listen to more episodes of God, Really?: https://ashdion.com/listen Free resources: https://ashdion.com/resources ABOUT THE SHOW Contact → https://ashdion.com/listen Connect → Join our free Facebook group Peace for Stressed Out Moms https://www.facebook.com/groups/godreally Instagram → @itsashdion Resources → https://ashdion.com/resources NEXT STEPS Step 1: Join a supportive community of moms who are done blaming God and ready to love mom life again in the free Facebook group Peace of God for Stressed Out Moms. https://www.facebook.com/groups/godreally Step 2: Sign up for the weekly newsletter. https://ashdion.com/newsletter Step 3: Ready for more support? 79 | Is God Good When Bad Things Happen? What This "Foolish" Mom in the Bible Tells Us

Have you ever gone through something so hard you found yourself asking, "God, really? How could a good God let this happen to me?" Was your faith built on love or on fear of punishment, so the moment life fell apart, your trust in God started to vanish and unbelief crept in? Have you ever been called foolish, or "not faithful enough," for questioning if God is good after a loss? In this episode, I'm reopening the story of a woman Scripture has been used to villainize — Job's wife — and asking whether she was really foolish to blame God and question if He is good after watching all ten of her children die. If your faith was built on fear of punishment instead of love, hard times don't just test your faith, they can shatter your trust in God until belief isn't far behind. I'm sharing my own three years of walking away after my son wasn't healed, why I turned away angry every time someone mentioned God, and what finally brought me back: realizing I never stopped believing in the true God — only the God I was terrified of. We'll talk about the two things real faith actually needs (belief AND trust in God), why grief, lament, and honesty are not sins, and the first steps toward healing when your faith feels fragile. This one is for the mom who's been blamed for "not believing enough" and needs to know God is for her, not against her — so she can face what broke her faith and start healing with God instead of running from Him. 78 | Does Repentance Stress You Out? Find Peace Through Confession of Sins

Did you grow up believing God was angry with you every time you sinned? Do the words confession and repentance make you feel guilty, ashamed, or afraid instead of experiencing the peace from God the Bible promises? Have you ever wondered, "Is God good... or is He just waiting for me to fail?" What if everything you were taught about confession and repentance made you fear God instead of helping you trust in God? If you grew up in a fire-and-brimstone church, today's episode may completely change how you see God. Many of us were taught that confession was about earning God's forgiveness, avoiding His anger, or hoping we had repented "enough." That kind of teaching often leaves us stressed, anxious, hiding from God, and questioning His goodness instead of experiencing the freedom Jesus died to give us. In this episode, Ash shares how walking away from faith (and eventually returning to Scripture) completely changed her understanding of confession, repentance, and God's character. You'll discover why confession of sins was never meant to produce shame, how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament sacrificial system once and for all, and why God invites you into peace instead of condemnation. If you've ever struggled to believe God is good after years of fear-based religion, this episode will help you begin your journey toward spiritual healing, renewed faith, and a deeper trust in God. In this episode you'll learn: Why confession isn't about making God forgive you The biblical difference between confession and repentance How fear-based religion can distort God's character Why Jesus' sacrifice changed everything forever How confession actually brings peace, healing, and freedom Why God isn't waiting to condemn you. 77 | Is God In Control When You've Lost Control? Modeling Faith and Patience When Your Kids Are Watching

Have you ever looked at your child's circumstances and quietly wondered, "Is God good?" What do you do when your faith feels small, but your kids are watching how you respond? Have you ever felt like you can't help your kids grow in faith because you're still trying to heal your own? What if your kids don't need to see a perfect faith? What if they need to see a real one? When life hurts, it can be difficult to trust God. Especially when you're a mom. You want to protect your kids from pain, disappointment, and fear. But what happens when your own faith has been shaken? How do you help your children know God is good when you're still asking that question yourself? In this episode of God, Really?, Ash shares a deeply personal moment after receiving difficult news about Maximus and the heartbreak of realizing what his future may look like. In the middle of grief, tears, and uncertainty, she made a choice: she turned to God. Not with perfect faith. Not with all the answers. Not because everything suddenly felt okay. But because she needed Jesus. Ash shares why modeling faith for your kids isn't about pretending to have it all together. It isn't about performing, having perfect prayers, or never questioning God. It's about showing your children that even when your faith feels as small as a mustard seed, God is still present, God is still loving, and God is still good. If you've been struggling with questioning God, feeling overwhelmed by circumstances, or wondering how to help your kids grow in faith while you are still healing, this episode will remind you that your imperfect faith can still point your children toward Him. In this episode, you'll learn: Why your kids don't need to see a perfect faith How to model trust in God during difficult seasons Why questioning God doesn't mean you have no faith How your children learn faith by watching your response to hardship Why turning to God in your hardest moments matters How to show your kids that God is safe, loving, and present Why even a mustard seed of faith is enough Take the free Faith Quiz to discover your next step with God: https://bemightymom.com/quiz Listen to more episodes of God, Really?: https://ashdion.com/listen Free resources to help you heal your faith and grow with God: https://ashdion.com/resources ABOUT THE SHOW "God, Really?" is for the stressed out mom who feels like she's losing control but desperately wants peace. 76 | What Is Faith? How to Trust in God When Life Doesn't Go As Planned

What happens when the thing you prayed for doesn't happen and you start wondering, "Can I really trust God?" Do you feel like you're losing control because your circumstances are bigger than your ability to fix them? What if your faith doesn't have to be huge to matter? What if your mustard seed faith is already enough? Maybe you've prayed harder, tried to trust more, and begged God to change your circumstances, only to feel even more lost when nothing changes. In this episode of God, Really?, Ash shares how her son's diagnosis revealed something she never expected: her faith wasn't broken because life was hard. Her faith was built on a foundation that couldn't hold when life became painful. For years, Ash believed faith meant believing enough for the outcome she wanted. If she prayed enough, trusted enough, and had enough faith, maybe God would change the situation. But faith was never meant to be a way to control God. Faith is trusting God even when you don't understand what He is doing. It is believing in His goodness when you cannot see the outcome. It is knowing that even the smallest amount of faith can still be used by Him. Through Scripture and her own story, Ash breaks down what faith actually is, why Jesus used a mustard seed to describe faith, and why your tired, struggling, imperfect faith still counts. If you have been losing control, questioning God, or wondering if your faith is enough, this episode will remind you that God is not asking for perfection. He is inviting you into trust. Sometimes faith looks less like certainty and more like: "God, I'm still here." And that is enough. In this episode, you'll learn: What faith actually means according to Scripture Why faith is not about controlling God's response The difference between trusting God and trying to control outcomes Why unanswered prayers do not mean God has abandoned you What Jesus meant by mustard seed faith How to rebuild trust in God after disappointment Why your small faith is still real faith Take the free Faith Quiz to discover your next step in your relationship with God: https://ashdion.com/quiz Listen to more episodes of God, Really?: https://ashdion.com/listen Free resources to help you heal your faith and grow with God: https://ashdion.com/resources ABOUT THE SHOW "God, Really?" is for the stressed out mom who feels like she's losing control but desperately wants peace.
