    This week, my guest is the lovely Yazmín García. She is an artist and is the owner of Sagrario Arte Studio.  Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico...Yazmín and her family are currently based in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a proud Mexican American, she shares her immigration story with us. In fact, she is working on a children’s book as a helpful way to share her immigration story and help other families. In our conversation, we also talk about women’s empowerment and the importance of mental health awareness.     Latina Leaders #latinas #leaders

    This week, my guest is podcaster Jennifer Cortez. Jennifer’s podcast and group “Latina Leaders” is an amazing space for BIPOC women. She is in the GTA region of Canada. As a proud Canadian Ecuadorian, Jennifer’s parents instilled education and a love of learning. Her family is talented and has many gifts. Her mom and Grandmother were singers in Ecuador. She has grown up in a family of very strong women who pursued both their careers and family life. Following in her family’s footsteps, you can find Jennifer’s album and singles under "The Prof" and Jennifer Cortez on Spotify and all streaming platforms. We also talk a bit about astrology! Jennifer has created Affirmation cards for Latina Leaders so be sure to check those out when they are available.     This week, my guest is First Gen academic influencer Cynthia Nunez. As a first generation Mexican American, she became aware of issues of racism at an early age. We connected on both being eldest daughters and being family oriented. She also shares how faith and spirituality have always been present in her life.     Faith is Resilience #latina #faith

    This week, my guest is Rubi Tapia. In addition to being in a doctoral program for biomedical engineering at Northwestern, she also hosts a podcast called “Academic Comadres” with her amiga Cyn Nunez.   Rubi reflects on the current political climate and disturbing anti-immigrant rhetoric. She shares how she was undocumented until she was sixteen years old, reality that shaped her high school years. She is very proud of her Mexican heritage.   Rubi also shares her understanding of faith and the importance of gratitude. Today she is still open to building a strong relationship with God.   We also spend some time talking about our mental health struggles. We can never assume what someone else is going through.     Sharing Our Stories #latina #immigration

    This week, my guest is the lovely Heidy De la Cruz. In addition to being an award-winning podcaster, of “The American Dream in the Eyes of Immigrants podcast.”  She is a wife and mom. In our conversation, her passion for podcasting and for sharing the courageous stories of immigrants shines through.   Heidy is currently located in Central Florida and is very proud of her Dominican roots.  She shares how growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan was a fascinating experience because it was during a time in which she was quite often the only Dominican person in the room. We also talk quite a bit about how important family celebrations are in Latinx families. Faith is central to her life, and we bonded over being women of faith.
