Some are awesome

Some of the interviews are fantastic, but at least one of the interviewers needs to watch how interviews work. Uninspired questions that most of the guests handle deftly, but why should they have to? Anyway I’m still going to listen...but with my finger on skip

where do I start

ok so it’s a functional podcast so I gave it that first star, and then it had Gillian Anderson so I gave it that second star, and that’s where it ends.

I’ve listened to half of the Gillian Anderson podcast and whoever is the interviewer needs to work on their skills. I never realized interviewing was a skill until I heard this podcast. I don’t want to be too mean, but there are such open ended questions it seems hard to really dive into something interesting. Additionally, the pace it’s excruciatingly slow. I will definitely admit Gillian is really slow in this episode too, but it’s not like there were any good questions to really excite her in any way.

I put it in 2x speed and it’s kind of funny listening to them talk about nothing that’s not already common knowledge. Most of the people who are going to be listening are people who are fans of her (not all but most) so maybe try to delve into something more specific and lesser known. It would be cool to find something I didn’t know of her that widely broadcasted television networks don’t go into because it’s too esoteric for a wide audience.

Lots of podcasts have better energy and more interesting conversations, and they trigger new stories instead of the same ones her fans heard a million times. I just couldn’t believe my ears when I heard the interviewer say, “so talk about that” after stating a fact in the most monotone voice ever. It’s like she (?) is reading from a paper that she’s never seen before. I’m surprised I made it through this far. I understand why the title is called just “Gillian Anderson” instead of something more descriptive and professional. The lack of professionalism is really stark with this one.

Also, the quality is pretty bad. Lots of audio glitches and it sounds like it was recorded over Zoom. There are much better platforms to record a podcast over (discord, literally cell phone calling, etc. and you can probably find some if you do a quick Google search).

Hopefully this helps anyone who wants to listen to this podcast, or anyone who is working on this podcast and wants to do better. I don’t usually do reviews but I got pretty passionate about this one.

Patricia Danaher is so boring

I’ve listened to one episode and all she did was ask questions trying to make the guest agree to social and environmental activist talking points. Very dull. Very fake.
