The Astor family was one of the earliest large developers in NYC- and the properties they developed are now iconic. Graham Court on 116th St was one of their earliest large buildings with an interior courtyard. Graham Court served as a model for later buildings- the Apthorp and the Belnord on the Upper West Side. The Belnord, can be seen today as it's own character in the Hulu show "Only Murders in the Building" - ironically as the center of it's own podcast in the show.
In this episode I discuss the Astor family and their history in NYC, along with Graham Court and a few of the other buildings built by the Astor's - with a special mention of the Waldorf Astoria.
