Commitment to Excellence - Mario Andretti
This week we continue talking about Commitment with a gret quote from Indy car racing legend Mario Andretti. Also, I give an extended shoutout to Olivia, one of the players I have been working with on her basketball game. You're going to love this episode!

Teddy Roosevelt - Comparison
I don't remember the first time I ever heard this quote, but it was one of those that stopped me in my tracks and got me thinking, trying to figure out exactly what it meant. I have used it ever since then as a great message for young people (and old people, too) to not get so caught up in comparing themselves to others, yet to use comparison as a means to drive yourself to become the best you that you can become.

Commitment
The catalyst for today's quote is the off-season that my team is currently in. As a basketball coach, I often tell players that basketball players are not made from November to March; they are made from March to November. (Maybe that's a quote I should talk about in the future!)
Of course, what I'm talking about when I say that is that players must put in time in the off-season to becoming better players. But we also talk about the idea that you don't just "put in time." You need to make sure that you maximize the time you are putting in by working extremely hard at what you need to work on to grow, develop, and improve.
This quote comes to us from Bruce Brown, the director of Proactive Coaching. As you probably know, I am one of the members of the Proactive Coaching speaking team. I first heard this line about 20 years ago when I heard Bruce give our "7 Ways to Lead" presentation. Since 2008 (when I joined the speaking team), I have been saying this line whenever I give that talk or whenever I do our "Captains & Coaches Workshop."
It is a great line about the impact that those who are committed to your programs have on those who are not as committed. You're going to love this one, and you're going to want to use it with your teams. . . immediately!

True Greatness
Today's quote comes to us from the Easter Sunday church service I went to yesterday. For those of you who aren't Christian or who are not people of faith, this is not a religion-focused episode or anything along the lines. I'm talking about a great quote that our Pastor, Shad Durgan, said in his sermon that can be applied to all of us in much more than just a religious context. He was talking about what true greatness is and where you find it. You will see how fitting it is for those of us who lead teams and who are trying to get our team members to live with a servant's team-first attitude.

Replay of Episode 46 - Coach Bob Kuykendall Interview
As we have done for the last couple of weeks, today I am bringing you another replay of a popular episode. In fact, today's episode is THE MOST DOWNLOADED EPISODE out of all of the episodes Ihave done.
Today you will hear from my long-time dearest friend in the world, Coach Bob Kuykendall. Bob is an English teacher and Head Wrestling Coach at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, Illinois. He and I taught and coached together there right out of college for eleven years. Then I moved to Montana, but Bob stayed at Carmel, and he has spent his entire 42-year career there!
In this episode, we talk about a quote that he has used in his English classes and with his wrestling team for most of those 42 years. You're in for a real treat here.
