Grim & Gilded is an independent literary journal focused on stories steeped in dark fiction, fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. Poetry, flash fiction, short stories, and visual art are accepted for publication, though the podcast focuses primarily on the flash fiction and short story category. Episode Nine - The Race
Tommy works hard on a fishing boat, spending her days catching and gutting the Gulliver's haul as a deckhand. But it's more than just thrill of the catch that draws her to the water. When the Gulliver pulls something much more interesting than a dogfish or striper, Tommy finds the thread constantly tugging her to the dark waters is suddenly pulled taut.
"The Race" is written by Sarina Bosco, and originally featured as the first place winner of Grim & Gilded's Summer 2023 Short Story Contest.

Episode Eight - The Ballad of Cattle and Clay
A tall tale woven by her drunken father leads to an impossible situation for Myrna Lamb. Each night, she must craft living cattle from the clay of the earth, or else face death at the hands of James "Hard-Hand" McGee - the wealthiest cattle baron in Colorado territory. But who is this mysterious stranger that comes to her each night, seeking bargains in exchange for magic?

Episode Seven - Storm House and The Monster of Wickit Village
Featuring the works of Oakley Harber and Jack Bylund.
In "Storm House," Shelley struggles to navigate the dynamic between herself and her parents. Instead of healthy growth, she finds a different, sicklier, kind of nourishment sustained from their relationship.
"The Monster of Wickit Village" follows the men of a small community as they struggle against a deadly force in their midst. What follows blurs the lines between the monstrosity itself and the monstrosities they commit.

Episode Six - Winter's Hunger and Evolution
Featuring the flash fiction works of Roux Bedrosian and Caroline Beuley.
In "Winter's Hunger," a hiking accident forces an unnamed victim to cross a line in the snow in order to survive - but is the end result a life saved, or a curse bestowed?
In "Evolution," we meet a starving, mighty hunter of the wild as it come up against a human, and the tame affliction her flesh imparts.
