01 - Berlin: Schreckfilm - The Ghosts of Luna Park
We return for one more ride on the crazy roller-coaster that is "Berlin, The Wicked City". In this final part of the trilogy of amazing adventures from David Larkins and Chaosium we return to the bitter winter of 1928. It's New Year's Day and the gang have met at Luna Park for the traditional festivities and to try to forget the horrors that they have witnessed. But the horrors seem to have other plans, both those created by ancient immeasurable powers and those created by man.
This series stars fan favourites, Sefina Rousseau played by Yiyi, Kataroyan 'the Armenian' played by Marko, and Eckhardt Schild played by Henry as they are joined by old friends Varin and Daniel who play Max Nemetz and Anne-Marie Kuhl.
As with all the Berlin stories 'Dances' contains imagery and themes that some people may find disturbing.

So FUN
Love the energy of GM Andy and the camaraderie of the PCs. As a non-gamer, this inspires me to maybe try one day! I followed the Blackwater Creek saga for a first foray, and felt generally creeped out and wonderfully invested in how the story played out. Keep up the good work! Update: I am Sofina shoveling meatballs. 🍝
Great Keeper!
Just listened to the Grizzly Peaks playthrough of Berlin: The Wicked City's "The Devil Eats Flies." Really enjoyable actual play, interesting characters. Especially admired the way the keeper improvised with the players: knows the rules cold but keeps it fast and fun. I learned a lot about how to run a game from listening.
Excellent Work
I just discovered this wonderful podcast and am now fiendishly making my way through its back catalog. I stumbled across it looking for actual-plays of David Larkins' amazing Call of Cthulhu sourcebook, Berlin: the Wicked City, and was instantly hooked. The GM and players are engaging, intelligent, and funny, and all do a great job breathing life into well-thought-out, intriguing characters (and NPCs). I admire the self-possessed, unhurried GM'ing style here, reacting well in the moment, improv-style, to the PCs' repartee and creative shenanigans. I entirely disagree with the reviewer here criticizing an alleged excess of humor and "lack of tension." The GM and players here are clearly having a great time, but nothing in any way detracts from the excitement and tension of the adventures themselves. On the contrary, the post-production sound effects and music, together with great GM'ing make every episode a great combination of excitement, horror thrill, and humor. Half the fun of Call of Cthulhu is watching characters go mad in the face of grizzly (no pun intended) horrors, and that is accordingly one of the draws of an actual-play CoC podcast like this. These episodes are completely absorbing and highly entertaining. They've transformed my commuting and cardio from drudgery to joy. Check 'em out.
