The right mentor can deliver huge advantages to your career

Many entrepreneurs give up during the low times. Having a mentor who can re-inspire and motivate you is crucial. The right mentor can help you, quite literally, grow your business.

Anyone can accelerate their learning curve by learning from a mentor's experiences, This could save you time and money and help you avoid mistakes. Another value mentors can provide is their relationships. An advisor may be able to introduce you to vendors, clients, and other resources.

Mentoring relationships are win-wins for both participants. Make sure to reach out proactively and speak in a straightforward way. Schedule regular calls and sessions. And be sure to circle back with your mentor to share what resulted from his or her coaching. There may be hidden perks like improved habits.

    Mentors matter

It's important to find a mentor who is willing and able to take you on. Mentors are invaluable for so many reasons, but essential for providing knowledge, motivation, advice and counsel, encouragement when you need it most, help with personal development and so much more.

Mentors can become your go-to person for advice and support during hard times. They are also around to celebrate your wins, regardless if they are big or small.

If you are lucky enough to find a personal mentor who can be all of these things to you, you will have an advantage over many others, because you have the right tools that can take you to the top!

Follow One Course Until Success. It is important to remain focused on a single task at a time to be more productive, to create quality work and to be less stressed.

As you focus upon a single task, trying to avoid distractions, the brain begins to focus on that task all by itself. This allows you to accomplish the task much faster than if you are attempting to finish two or more tasks at the same time.

If you can take control of your ability to focus, you have given yourself a powerful tool that will enable you to perform at a consistently high level and be both effective and efficient in your work efforts. Focusing will help you have better quality work, more success, and achievement of your professional goals.

    Understand the benefit of failure

For some people, failure ruins them. For others, it is just the beginning of something wonderful. Failure isn’t fun, but it is an opportunity to learn, reflect and regroup.

Often when you are battling uncertainty, you adapt and change. Sometimes it takes a while but if you can bounce back it can lead to successes that taste all the sweeter.

Failure is a natural, necessary part of being human. No one is exempt when it comes to failure. It’s part of life. So don’t quit, use failure to your advantage. Accept the push.

Mindset are foundational to your success

Success and happiness are all about mindset. I believe our thoughts have incredible power over our everyday lives, and that our moods and behaviors are a reflection of how we think.

Change your mindset, change your life. These all sounds so easy, yet many of us tell ourselves it’s too late to change careers or that we don’t have enough time to learn something new. Identify and overcome your personal mental blocks. Create new habits to support your mindset change.

Think of your mindset as a voice and manifest all the positivity you could think of. A positive frame of mind will invite success into your life. All it takes is a few simple tweaks to your thinking to become your happiest, most fulfilled self.

    Be investable

Make yourself investable. Share your passion, don’t be afraid to think big, practise your pitch and know your limitations. Understanding the value and investability of a company is a crucial skill for business owners and VC’s alike.

Serious investors who have heard over a thousand pitches and read hundreds of plans are most impressed with founders who make the right points in the shortest amount of time with the least prompting.

To be taken seriously by both investors and lenders, a company needs to show balance. Showing ambition tempered with realism and deep knowledge of your business and numbers is key. A great story and a sexy pitch deck might get you a meeting, but being organised, disciplined and realistic will take you all the way there.

    Be kind to people

Kindness leads to many good things like better relationships, improved self-esteem, compassion, happiness, future success, and good mental and physical health. It brings people together and don’t we all want that for our children, our families, our community, and the world?

Try to be kind to others to try and make a difference in the world, and also practice to try and make a difference in your own life as well.

    Face your fear of failing

The fear of failing can be immobilizing – it can cause us to do nothing, and therefore resist moving forward. But when we allow fear to stop our forward progress in life, we're likely to miss some great opportunities along the way.

what makes us fearless is not the fact that we do not experience fear, but that we are confident that we can deal with the consequences of our actions. Instead of talking yourself out of the fear by hoping that nothing negative would happen, focus on building confidence to deal with the consequences.

Step out of your comfort zone

if we stay inside our comfort zone, nothing changes. We don’t grow. We’re not challenged. We don’t get to find out what we’re made of. Breaking out of your comfort zone means taking up new challenges. This will automatically make you more productive as you work towards achieving the new goals.

Getting out of your comfort zone from time to time creates just enough good stress to ramp up your focus, creativity, pace, and drive, and it helps you respond to life stress when unexpected things happen.

Try to make small changes that take you out of the everyday and familiar, yet are not too emotionally challenging. You have within yourself the ability to make big change.

    Reach out

Reaching out does not just mean having someone listen to you. It also means you get access to information, advice, guidance and other kinds of assistance from different people. Yet, in our society, some value their independence so much that asking for help seems like a weakness.

It's important to talk. Whether it’s sending a text, messaging on social media sites, leaving a comment on a blog, meeting up for a coffee and a chat or sending a good old-fashioned letter. These are things that can help. It’s important to reach out, to let people in.

It may seem scary. But believe me, it’s amazing the weight that lifts afterward. Just knowing someone else knows can make a huge difference to how much strength you have to cope with difficult situations.

Absolute gold, love this podcast!

If you're in need of a complete mindset RESET, or if you've just never given your mindset much thought, this is the podcast for you!! It's not fluff or coffee-table-meditation-book babble that we hear about all the time. Sam includes MANY experts (from psychologists to behaviorists) who can help you understand your thoughts and the way you mentally process challenges much better than you currently do (which is a huge asset when you own and run a biz)!

Great Podcast with Maayan Gordon

The interview was so informative. I totally agree with Maayan when she said people are not following their curiosities or passions in life, which will either result in their happiness or sadness. As she stated we have more control over how we feel than we give ourselves credit for, don’t pass that off to another individual. Your honesty is your power.

An Tangible

The Growth Mindset Podcast provides an easy to understand way to embrace growth mindset, whether your parent trying to help your child, or someone who is facing their fears head on, or trying to understand the psychotherapy behind this concept. Sam finds a way to delve both deep and wide with this idea so that you can understand how it can play a role in so many parts of your life. I’m glad this podcast exists in the world.
